If you're on the hunt for an unpretentious, unforgettable meal that delivers big flavors without breaking the bank, Umi GoGo is your next must-visit. Tucked away like a well-kept secret, this cozy, cash-only spot is dishing out some of the most soul-satisfying food I’ve had in a long time.

Let’s start with the mackerel curry—an absolute standout. The dish strikes a perfect balance between comforting and complex. The mackerel is perfectly cooked: tender, rich, and full of character, soaking up the deeply flavorful curry sauce like it was born for it. The curry itself is bold yet nuanced, layered with spices that warm you up without overwhelming your palate. It's the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate what's happening.

Then there’s the homemade chicken with homemade ketchup—a pairing that sounds simple on paper but absolutely sings on the plate. The chicken is juicy, crisped just right, and clearly cooked with care. But the real revelation is the ketchup. This isn't your average bottled condiment—it’s tangy, a little sweet, a little savory, with a depth that hints at slow-cooked tomatoes, subtle spices, and probably a whole lot of love. It elevates the chicken into something memorable and completely craveable.

What makes the whole experience even sweeter is the price. Everything is incredibly affordable, especially considering the quality and attention to detail. Yes, it's cash only, so come prepared—but trust me, it's more than worth the extra stop at the ATM.

From the thoughtful food to the unbeatable value, and really good atmosphere, Umi GoGo earns a solid five stars. It's the kind of place you'll want to keep to yourself—but won't be able to stop...

It will be very difficult to find a better value for your money in Nagoya. Especially for dinner. I got the Hayashi Rice with fried chicken set for ¥900. That includes the drink! The flavor is excellent too. Very clean interior and a nice nautical theme.

It should be known that someone involved with the restaurant is a member of “Happy Science”, a somewhat fringe political party and/or religion in Japan. It’ll be obvious from some of the movie posters near the entrance. That said, while there is literature (in Japanese) about the group in the store for your perusal if inclined, they in NO way tried to convert/recruit or otherwise push the ideas on us. It wasn’t even mentioned. It’s there but you’re pretty free...

青い外観のお店だから、遠くからでもすぐに分かりました。

海辺にありそうな建物で、住宅街にあると目立ちます。

可愛らしい外観に癒やされたあと、店内へ。

店内にはユーミンのポスターがあり、天井からカモメが吊るされていました。

ランチも外で食べる予定だから、選べるモーニングの中からカップケーキと生クリームを選んで、注文。

ワンドリンクで2品選べるから、迷いました。

店名をイメージしているようで、クリームソーダは真っ青。

ブルーハワイが多めだから、甘さが強め。

バニラアイスは、普通のバニラアイスでした。

量がたっぷりだから甘くて飲むのに一苦労だけど、美味しかったです。

カップケーキは、やさしい甘さを感じます。

生クリームと相性がよかったから 、生クリームをつけて食べるのがオススメ。

1日中モーニングをしていて、さらに＋50円で1品増やせる、嬉しいサービスもあります。

2階だから開放感があり居心地も最高だけど、短時間しか居られなかったのが残念。
