This place is an izakaya that specializes in dumplings, with a variety of fried and boiled varieties.
I visited with my partner at the recommendation of a friend. The dumplings were indeed delicious, I'm a glutton for fried dumplings and really enjoyed the ones here. There were goat meat dumplings but I didn't try them.
The appetizers were very much beer/alcohol accompaniments, not so good with non-alc.. But I mean, this IS an izakaya tho so.. For drinks, you need to order minimum one per person (alcoholic or not) and then they will provide water as well.
Stir-fried veggie dishes were tasty albeit a bit oilier than I would have liked.
The one dish I wouldn't quite recommend would be the xiao long bao - the wrap is thick but at the same time extremely fragile. It's almost impossible to pick them up with chopsticks without breaking them, gotta roll them onto a spoon to avoid bursting then open and have all the soup leak out.
You need to order online by scanning a QR code, I'm not sure how you'd do it if you didn't have data. The menu is all in Japanese without pictures, translations mostly make sense but incl case you're not sure there is one English...

Parking: ¥300/30 mins it was not a lot of spot and went at 5pm.
Menu: You order through the QR code. Don't mess up. It goes straight to placing an order. Look, the pictures are missing, but don't worry because EVERY SINGLE THING WE ORDERED WAS AMAZING DELISH!!!! I am critical and from New York. This is the closest thing I have tasted to a proper NYC fried rice. Then I was scared because the cheesecake was black but it was sesame cheecake. SO FRIIGIN GOOD! We ordered both dumplings, gyoza, veggies, and Shumai.
Service: They are quick, clean, and understanding.
Atmosphere: It was good at 5pm. I saw there are ash trays at each table, though. If it is an indoor smoking place, I wouldn't stay. They have twinkle lights, and I imagine they open the doors for an open-air experience. The chairs were practical it was nice not to have to choose which butt cheek can take the first turn.
Give them a try. Worth it. I wish I...
Read moreA new branch of the popular gyoza izakaya in Kumoji. Anyone can come here without reservation. There's no seat price, but the more than above average price makes up for it. As expected of the second branch, the volume and the taste of the foods are in par with the first branch. It's not the fault of the restaurant, but the customers here are too loud they overcome the indoor music. I hope they have a drink-all-you-can option so I could spend less...
