Ajiro — Restaurant in Nakijin

We loved how local this place was. The place was full of local people who seemed to know each other. The menu was in Japanese (no translated menu) and we needed our Japanese host to help make reservations for this place. We learnt from the locals shared with us how to say thank you in their local slang (“niffee debiru” instead of "arigatou").

We had the assorted sashimi, tempura, and eel set meal. The sashimi was fresh, tempura ingredients were fresh and sweet on its own. The tempura batter was thin yet crispy, and not greasy at all. The eel was slighty charred and...

Had amazing food and an amazing time both nights we went here, if we were staying in Okinawa longer I think we'd go every night!! The food is amazing and the staff are super friendly and kind, despite the language barrier (I have 0 Japanese and they have very little English). I would say if you can't speak Japanese and are fussy with food then give this a miss, as we just pointed to random menu items 1,000+ jpy.

They kicked us out as if we were to rob them. They are not welcoming to foreigners. I speak Japanese and I kindly ask to get a table but the owner didn’t even look at us and kicked us out. A younger waiter tried to explain in english that we needed reservation but a random guy entered before us and got a table....
