(Local) I love the main restaurant Akordu (2 Michelin Stars) and was so excited to hear they were opening a cafe. I’m going to give my review and then quickly respond to a previous review. Great selection of cakes (might be a bit limited at the end of the day—expected). The chef used to work at one of the best cake shops in Nara. You won’t be disappointed. I had some terrine open sandwiches, pickles and salad from the brunch menu. This comes straight from the main restaurant so I knew this would be great. It was a nice portion and good value. The drip coffee was good but a little small for the price. I would expect more or a lower price. They should also move the S/M/L takeout cups because they only offer S size at the moment. I’ll check the other drinks next time. Atmosphere was nice and Friendly. It was obvious the staff were new and learning, but they had plenty of support. I think the use of 1a=100 yen is a bad idea. It’s just confusing and doesn’t make any sense. Sorry.

Some places offer the small plastic packs of long-life milk but Abarotz doesn’t. They mention the milk costs 50yen on the menu. Finally, there are no outlets near seats so I don’t think you should be using the one in the store. It distracts from the atmosphere in the store. This is not Starbucks...
Read moreDrinks offer more ice than the drink it-self. Their attitude wasn’t helpful. Tastes of coffee and drinks were “alright”, but in my opinion think it is overrated. Price of drinks are very high. A single marble-soft drink costs 300yen. The prices are not even listed well and user friendly. The only thing that is acceptable is their view.
But in count of every single aspect, the Starbucks near by in a much better deal, it has a better view, better price, and most importantly, less ice....
Read moreThis was the worst experience ever!! We had to actively tell them to make each dish. If we didn’t actively ask to make an item from our order - it was not made. Some we had to ask up to 5 times until it was made. We just wanted coffee. It total it took an hour to drink 2 coffees and eat a piece of cake. Absolutely horrible.
P.S the coffee itself was great and...
