フレンチライス — Restaurant in Niigata

Wandered into the restaurant/deli in the late afternoon, so many of the main dishes were long sold out, but the quiche was still available, and I’m happy that it was! The quiche was veggie friendly (if you allow eggs and cheese), and it’s texture was perfect, just the right amount of creaminess with a firmness given by the three cheeses (gouda, parmesan, and one more, sorry can’t remember the third), and every mouthful had mushrooms included, so every bite was a treat! The owner was very kind and suggested methods to reheat his culinary offerings with combinations of toaster ovens and microwave ovens to excellently recreate the crispy crust from when it was freshly baked. Following his instructions made the quiche even more amazing. Also sampled the carrot salad and potato & quinoa salad, and I thought the potato salad was going to suffer from the graininess of healthily prepared foods, but the quinoa was blended masterfully with the potatoes, so all I tasted was rich, flavorful goodness. The almonds were an excellent addition to the aesthetic and supplied a satisfying crunch when enjoying the salad. The carrot salad was just a hint sour, which I loved, with mild flavors throughout, which made me want to add some wine and more bites of the hearty quiche. The focaccia was long gone by the time I arrived, so if you enjoy bread with your meal, go early or call ahead because the owner made note that reservations were encouraged.
