First of all, i'd never expected such elegant yet spacious space for a chinese soba place at Nakagusuku area. To be honest, i prefer it this way to avoid all the crowd at Naha area. Something to look forward to when treating myself.
Move on to the chinese soba. The simple look of either soy sauce or salt based soba can't hide the potential this ramen might offer. Could you see the noodle is carefully plated? Wait until you tasted it. The texture is just feels right. And the soup? Oh man, rich with flavor yet able to maintain the balance without being too oily/salty. The char siu are possibly different than what most people used to, myself included. It doesn't punch you with sweetness or something extraordinary, but take time to chew it mindfully... You'll thank me later. Last but not least, the wonton's just superb. Stuffed with prawn that still have its slight crunchy texture.
What a place, what a chinese soba. Such a gem. Take time to enjoy the meal, in a outskirts area like Nakagusuku chances are you don't have to rush because the next customer is impatiently waiting. A more plus point for Chinese...
Read moreFound this place at random and so glad we did. Don't let the kitchen and ambience fool you, they serve soba here, not ramen! But it's the Okinawan soba and it's white in color, rather than the typical brown/grey ones you may see elsewhere. We were caught in the rain and were hungry and found this place situated in a quaint residential area near Ryukyu University Hospital. Although the staff did not speak English, they were accommodating and we had a brief exchange over Google Translate. We came as a party of 4 and sat at the bar table to watch our food be prepared. The chefs and staff prepared all of our noodles to perfection and the star of our noodles were the soup bases. Crisp, savory and full of flavor! The noodles were perfectly cooked, with just a bit of spring in the bite. The slow cooked duck breast and the wontons were a great pairing for the noodles and the soup. If you're ever in the area, do give this...
Read moreToday's weather was cold and rainy making it a perfect time for noodle soup. My girlfriend recommended it, so naturally we had to send it. To date this has probably been the best noodle shop I've been to on island. Cheap, delicious and the ambiance is pretty chill, similar to a coffee shop/cafe.
I got the soy sauce based soba (top left corner of the menu ticket machine) my girlfriend got the top right corner which was the Dan Dan based (unfortunately didn't snag a picture). The broth was incredible, perfectly flavorful without feeling heavy. Noddles cooked excellent as well as the wontons and pork slices. The only minor thing I had was that I typically prefer my eggs a little more runnier and it could've been a little more flavorful. Overall though highly recommend, and I'll definitely be coming...
