NOTE: I will not return to this coffee shop nor recommend it. While the atmosphere was relatively simple and quiet, the staff was unwelcoming and unpleasant. To support this business, I ordered the most expensive coffee on the menu and while I thought to try another shop when I realized they didn’t have WiFi and I needed internet to work, I utilized my phone as a hotspot instead. After an hour and a half, a staff member came over with a small card that read “please refrain from studying or using computers for long periods of time” with a furrowed look, showed it to me, and walked away. I immediately packed my things, paid, and left. In the time I was there, there was a total of two other customers and when I left, there hadn’t been anyone in and out of the cafe in at least 30 minutes. I wasn’t taking up valuable space, I was utilizing and paying for my own WiFi, I purchased coffee and was planning to purchase lunch, and I sat in the farthest table to the back so as to leave the more convenient tables open to others. When I paid, the staff member barely bothered to look at me. I am not surprised this place is empty. ATMOSPHERE: 7 two-person tables, a few benches, and the layout allowed for movement. 1920’s jazz playing in the background with a vintage vibe. PARKING: I parked across the street in the large Max Valu parking lot. MENU: a decent selection of coffee and food items spread across a two page menu. Four or five different sandwiches, a selection of desserts, and a page full of different coffee drinks. I went for the “melted latte”, their signature drink. It was smooth and the coffee blend was tasty. It had a disclaimer to not ask for a straw, sugar, or ice for this drink. It was tasty without. STAFF: Distant and standoffish. See note above. PAYMENT: Yen only, no cash or card. WIFI: None. Overall, I gave this place one star due to the lack of WiFi and an unpleasant experience I had with the staff.

I wanted a good cup of coffee and decided to stop at this cafe. There were only three parking spots designated for the cafe next to it. Though there was no street parking there were some big lots across the street with plenty of parking. The cafe is easy to miss because it’s hidden behind trees and doesn’t have a noticeable sign out front. When I walked inside I was greeted warmly. I sat down and a menu was presented to me. I decided to have the Gibraltar. Having been a barista I am always interested in trying different types of coffee. I looked up what a Gibraltar was and it was basically a cappuccino in a glass tumbler. I thought the drink was very smooth and didn’t even need sugar. While waiting to be served I pulled out my laptop to do some work. The person running the cafe came over to me and informed me that no PC’s were allowed. He was very polite and I understood that the atmosphere they wanted was to be quiet and relaxing. I didn’t take offense but thought the place to be a little rigid. I did notice that there was a bookshelf of books that the patrons who arrived before me enjoyed browsing while waiting for their food. Perhaps if I had come with a book instead that would have been acceptable. I would like to come back and try the melted latte and some food. I find it somewhat refreshing knowing this is a work free zone & a place to truly be present with quality food and drinks.

After reading some of the lower rated reviews I decided to finally try this place out. If you want to relax, have a nice brunch, and a nice cup of coffee, this is the spot for you 100%. If you are expecting anything else, go elsewhere. No loudness, no WiFi, no studying, and no leaving your table except for ordering, grabbing water, or leaving. It truly is a peaceful little jewel in the heart of Takahara. With most places getting caught up in consumerism and the 'customer is always right' mentality, Kramps Coffee sticks to its standards and holds you to them. The price was a bit higher than expected, but with the current exchange rate, it was priced towards the economic mean. The quality of the French toast was top notch, and the fried egg with bacon on top truly were a match made in heaven. It paired perfectly with the Dark Roast cup of coffee I had, served at perfect drinking temperature. I would have liked a little larger of a cup, but that is me nitpicking. I will be a returning customer, especially when I jusy want to hang out and read a book for a little while.
