Akamaru Shokudo — Restaurant in Osaka

Great atmosphere and staff, but the food was just not that good.

The restaurant is spacious with very friendly staff. It was a great environment to take a small child, as they had kids' seating, menus, and a free drink.

We ordered a few dishes and, unfortunately, found a lot of them disappointing. The demi-glace on the chicken katsu was a bit weak for my taste, but my wife liked the lighter sauce, so I guess that's ok. The shrimp were fine, too, but nothing to write home about. The yakiniku-don was good, but again, the sauce was weak and left us wanting to drizzle on more. The buta-ten was a much-too-salty mess, with the fried batter not sticking to the meat and leaving you with all of the meat in one bite and nothing but a soggy husk in the other. The ika-ten was completely undercooked. The inside was goopy and tasted strongly of uncooked flour.

The place is clean and ordered. When i went was half full. The service was good. As soon as I was assigned a table, the waiter assigned to the table brought a cup of water, and was attentive to when I was going to order. The order didn't took much time and was given hot. I ordered Tempozan chickenkatsu on Mangamori. It was amazing. The rice was mounted as manga and the chickenkatsu was dripping in demiglass sauce. It was crispy and the sauce was tasty and smelled good. I shared with my sons as they ordered an kitsune udon and a 1 chickenkatsu plate. What I ordered was too much for a dinner. But tastes very good. The plate had also a spaguetti, mashed potatoes and shredded cabagge. I shared with my sons. I will definitively come again. The price was reasonable. The chicken katsu is very tender and juicy. There is a menu consisting of 5 chicken katsu. Very tasty and plentiful. But it doesn't make you bored. Don't forget to order a 1kg portion of rice to compensate the katsu. 😁👍

Don't worry if you can't finish the food, because if so, the food can be wrapped.

The employees are also very attentive. There was an employee who immediately immediately took a wet tissue without asking when I accidentally touched the sauce with my finger and wanted to get up to wash my hands. I really appreciate that. 🙏
