One of the best places I've been in Osaka for one reason: the hospitality of the owner. As I finished visiting the Sumiyoshi Taisha I decided to walk across the street and have a nice and delicious bowl of Udon with tempura. It was delicious, not mind blowing delicious but good enough to make me happy. As I was the only one at the shop and talking to the owner about my trip and sharing pictures, I asked him if he knew a store nearby to buy some things for me. He gladly offered to walk with me to a store nearby and even asked the staff about what I was looking for. This is definitely a place you want to visit to have a good meal and and experience an amazing hospitality.

A small and lovely local restaurant ran by an elderly couple selling don and udon as per the restaurant name. lady boss came by to help explain the menu since we are taking some time to decide 😅 There are 4 tables inside the restaurant. 3 stars for the food because the food is quite salty for our liking sadly. Perhaps the seasoning is catered to locals tastebuds and preference. The egg udon is very salty while the normal plain one is okay.

This historic little udon shop has such a friendly vibe - we were greeted and given free tea at the door. Inside is an English menu, and appreciably clean interior compared to many other similar styled japanese counter restaurants - and a homemade, clear, deep dashi broth. The "home run udon" is a home run ! Chewy udon noodles, soft-chewy squid tempura and lovely sweet tofu that combines heavenly with the dashi.

And at a price that is more than reasonable.
