Pecorino — Restaurant in Otsu

What a cuisine and visual treasure this Italian restaurant is. There are spectacular Lake Biwa views, lots of birds swimming, hunting & flying by and most importantly the famous temple in the lake. If you are lucky, their cat mascot BUSA might show herself to you!

I never even got to the food, yet. Lunch and dinner sets are top-notch. I experienced their lunch set and I noticed how much thought went into my lunch. The chopstick rests were adorable beans and green beans. Their hand wipes had adorable prints. Their salad was a work of art and tastes. My lasagna was cheesy yumminess. The meat stew had soft beef and a velvety brown sauce and a beautiful flower shaped carrot. Dessert was a colorful plate of a tea cake, ice cream and a specially treated cherry. A drink and bread with butter is also included.

Nice place, with a good lunch. Suitable for a weekend family chill out. However, we had to wait ridiculously long for a table - truth is we did not have a reservation, however, we were left waiting outside for almost an hour even though the staff said the table will be free shortly. If we didn't have a small boy with us who was excited about the lake view, we would have probably gone...

Stopped here for an ice coffee on our way back from biking around south lake Biwa. Great view of the lake and the sun shines on this end of Otsu much more than by the southern border. Nice spot for a little mid way rest if you bike up the lake towards Maibara and come back down east side of the lake. Coffee was perfectly strong...
