Kobe Aarti — Restaurant in Saitama

This was quite the nice surprise. I would not say that I walked in with low expectations, I was simply expecting it to be like many other Indian restaurants; somewhere to get decent curry and good nan at a reasonable price. However, the food was a lot better than I had imagined it would be and I was left wanting more.

To change things up a bit, I went with the "しびれる！“辛さの南インドカレーセット (South India's Numbingly Spicy Curry Set), an order of cheese nan (the set came with rice, no nan) and a mango lassi. The set is advertised as super spicy, but as someone who tends to get the spiciest level at Indian restaurants only to be met with a dish that barely tickles, I was not very hopeful. That was the first surprise. Just one bite and I was hit with a spiciness that packed quite the delightful punch. The consistency of the curry, which is not as thick as most other Indian curries, helped to keep a fresh coat of spiciness over my palate. There was not a single spoonful of curry that let up the heat. Naturally, I reached for a sip of the mango lassi. The second surprise. What a wonderful consistency. It was thick and delicious. Not watered down like so many that I've had. I would go back just for that lassi. At this point, I was dying to dip the nan into the curry. So I did just that and took a bite. The third surprise. It was SO cheesy! I absolutely loved it! If you like cheese, then the cheese nan is a must order and you will be happy to know that portions here are generous. After going through a rollercoaster of amazing flavors, it was time for the last one, vanilla ice cream with mango sauce. And here I was met with the fourth surprise. What a wonderfully creamy dessert. The perfect "cherry on top" to an already amazing meal.

I was not prepared to be wowed by so many dishes at once. This is definitely a place that I will be...

普段利用してるインドカレー屋とは別物だと思った方が良いです。

キッズカレーとカレー2種セットと、スープカレーを注文。

カレー2種セットは、好きなカレーは選べずに、組み合わせが決まってました。 しかもベースのカレーは同じで、具と若干の味の違いで、実質1種類と変わらないレベルです。 スパイスは薄いというか弱いです。インドカレー食べたい欲求は満たされないかも。

ナンは大きかったけど、薄くて固いです。 肉厚な部分が皆無で、ふわもち食感が好きな人には合わないと思います。 キッズカレーのバターチキンは他のインドカレー屋と変わらなかったです。

スープカレーは当然ですがスープカレー屋の物とは全然違います。独特のスパイスの風味が自分には合わなかったです。じゃがいもの芽を全く取ってなかったのが気になりましたが、これは文化の違いですかね。

食後にアイスがサービスで出されましたが、練乳と牛乳を凍らせた様な単調な味で、何かざらざらした物が口の中に残り口に合いませんでした。

味以外ではサービスの質も他のインドカレー屋さんと比較して低く感じます。 ・2種盛りのカレーを選べない、選べるメニューもあるにはあるけど、かなり高いメニューでお得感は無い。 ・レディースセット無い ・セットドリンクにラッシーが入ってない ・ナンやライスのおかわりが最初から有料
