I went in here today with a colleague for the second time. To be fair, the food was good and is very authentic. Unfortunately, I feel we were treated very rudely today. The moment we walked through the darkened entrance, I missed the hand sanitation station and thermometer. I immediately heard the staff mention that in the kitchen, so I turned around and cleaned my hands immediately. While we ordered, the waitress seemed to get impatient quite us as we had one misunderstanding with the menu. During the entire meal, we were never asked if weeded a refill and given the generally angry look of the staff as we watched the chef slam things around while cooking, we didn't bother asking. Since the meal was surprisingly large the, my colleague wanted to request a box to take away the other half of his meal toward the end. He raised his hand to get somebody's attention and the older guy (probably the owner) said nothing and gestured with his two arms that we should proceed to the register, we tried to get their attention again to explain what we needed and he repeated the gesture of pointing us to the register looking somewhat annoyed. We finally got annoyed, walked up to the register paid and asked for a box for takeaway.
Through the entire visiting, we felt we weren't welcomed at all. I am married to a Japanese woman, had lived in Japan for 4 years and have been traveling here to Sasebo for about 8 years now. I have NEVER felt more like a gaijin than I did today. My colleague and I both agreed we will never go back to this...
Read moreFood is OK and affordable. That being said, last time I went there (Friday evening, around 19:00), I was treated very rudely. I went in and they just stared at me with disapproving faces, then after 5 seconds of awkwardness I asked for the menu. They then proceeded to tell me they were closing (in a very unfriendly way). The cook then said that take away would OK. Thanks, but no thanks. How the heck am I supposed to guess a restaurant will close at 19:00 on a Friday? By the way, on Google maps the info says they close at 21:00.
I'll never go back to this...
