Humming Meal Market — Restaurant in Sendai

Tried this cafe style restaurant for dinner. Indulged in the mozzarella and fresh tomato pasta set with a salad and drink. My partner opted for the shrimp and broccoli tomato cream pasta set. The price point was a little high, but the volume of food was spot on. The salads had an excellent mix of greens with a tangy and flavorful dressing. The pasta was thicker in diameter to traditional spaghetti, and could have been bucatini, but I’m not sure. The thick noodles were a perfect answer for the richness of the mozzarella and tomato sauce combination as well as the shrimp, broccoli, and tomato cream. All together, I loved the texture of each bite, the combination of the sauces and noodles being spot on. Being a cafe, there were many spots for charging electronic devices along the walls, and although quite busy, it was reasonably effortless to move between tables, and the wait time was very short as the turnover tends to be quick being in the mall attached to Sendai Station. If you're looking for a place to grab breakfast around Sendai station and you have a little bit of time to chill, you'll be hard pressed to find a better value than this place. 本町店と長町店に以前行っていて、ここの生パスタは日本一だと思っているので、久々に帰仙した際に「駅前にも出来たんだー！」とめちゃめちゃテンションが上がりました。しかし、あくまで系列というだけで同じと思ってはいけませんね。ハミングバードの美味しい生パスタを使ったPRONTOだと思えば良いかもしれません。

基本はカフェ利用の人が多く、時間帯にもよるかもしれませんがパスタを食べてる人はあまりいませんでした。あくまでカフェ飯というカンジで、ワンプレートにパスタとサラダ二種が盛ってあります。大盛りとかＬサイズが無いので、パスタをモリモリ食べたかったという人は店のチョイスを誤ったことにここで気付くでしょう。

ドリンクセットでオーダーしたので、パスタとドリンク一緒に来るのかと思ったのですが、ドリンクだけ先に来てパスタが来たのは十分以上経ってからかな。基本コーヒーは食後に欲しい派ですが、PRONTO形式のこのお店にそこまで要求は出来ないのは分かります。しかし、せめて同時に持ってきて欲しかった。飲みたいタイミングの頃にはもうぬるくなってしまっていたし、そもそもここのコーヒー、酸味が強いタイプで私の好みではなかったです。 パスタは美味しかった、まあ、ハミングバード系列なので美味しくなければ困るのですが。

あとオーダースタイル的に、てっきりお水はセルフサービスかと思い店内を探し回ったのですが「お水ですかー？　お席にお持ちしますのでお待ちくださいー」と言われ、ドリンクと同じタイミングで持ってきてくれました。セルフなら自分で好きに取るけど、セルフじゃないならば正直着席したらすぐに持ってきて欲しいんですよ。そこんとこ一貫性が無いというか、モヤッとしてしまいました。

あとパスタを持ってきてくれた時に「よろしかったらテーブル広く使ってくださーい」と隣のテーブルをくっつけて四人席にしてくれたのですが、サイドにあるアクリル板は付いたままだったので、結果的に左右から空間を閉ざされて圧迫された形になりました。「え、この板も取ってくれるんとちゃうの？　めっちゃ狭くなっただけw」と、連れと苦笑しました。

完全に新規開拓のカフェとして入ればそれなりに満足したかもしれない。けれど、愛するハミングバードの系列店として期待しすぎて入ったが故にがっかりしてしまったのかなと思います。パスタは美味しいですよ、当たり前ですけど。PRONTOだと思って入れば「麺もちもちして最高ー！　美味しいー！」ってなって星四つとかは...
