I sought out this restaurant after discovering that it's the outpost of the main restaurant in Shiogama. Though I was already in Shiogama -- known for its seafood and to have more sushi restaurants per capita than most places -- I wondered if I should return closer to my hotel to be able to more fully indulge. The previous review posting that it was new and suited for a solo diner was the clincher, and fully indulge I did. I got there just after the lunch rush on a Saturday, and the staff kindly led me to a private 2-person table rather than stranding me at the counter. As are many kaisen restaurants these days, ordering is done primarily on screens and an English option is available, though a translating app can still be helpful for those items left untranslated. Judging by the sashimi and sake starter, I knew that I'd be in good hands here and looked forward to exploring the rest of the menu. Everything from nigiri to warabi for dessert was of the same high standards for freshness, quality and presentation, all served quickly and attentively. A high point among many was the grilled surf clam -- tender, moist and touched with smoke. A terrific meal accompanied by an equally delicious selection of sake close to Sendai Station. Pro note: Like many of the sushi places in Sendai, I honestly don't understand why this place isn't more highly rated. I usually skip the sushi restaurants under 4 stars but have had truly great sushi deserving of higher ratings at such places, with Kaisen Sushi...
Read moreThis was our first visit. Since my wife and I were visiting alone, we were able to take a seat at the modern arched counter in the corner of the restaurant, which is partitioned off from the rest of the restaurant. Of course, there was also an open counter where artisans were cooking, but I was very lucky to be able to enjoy my meal in a more relaxed atmosphere. I ordered about 10 dishes, including tuna, on a tablet set up at the counter. The food was fresh and tasty, but the price was not so reasonable. But I guess the restaurant is still new, so it was very clean. The restaurant is located on the first floor of the Sendai MT Building, about 300 meters east of the east exit of JR Sendai Station on Miyagino Dori (a.k.a. Rakuten Street), on your right. You will see a lot of people walking on that street on the days of events at Miyagino Park and games at Rakuten...

It was especially nice to chat with one of the staff members, who was very friendly and told us interesting things about the restaurant and Sendai. The other staff members were also very friendly. We will definitely come back next time we...
