Izu Shirahama Barbecue Garden — Restaurant in Shimoda

Very near to Shirahama beach, the place is just beautiful, with a small garden, a couple of hammocks. There were two tents setup as well which gave tha outdoorsy vibe to the whole ambience. Food was generous, although a bit on the pricey side. We requested to replace pork and beef steaks with seafood and chicken and they were able to do that. They have “All you can drink” options - 1000 JPY for non alcoholic and 2000 JPY for alcoholic drinks. They accept cards so that was good.

We had to rush our dinner though as they just informed at 8:50pm that they would like to close by 9:00 pm. Considering that we had arrived by 7:45 pm, we had just started warming up to the atmosphere. An advance warning would have been better. But they allowed us to finish it in next half an hour (had to increase the gas and food got burnt).. took away the bbq fun. May be they shouldn’t allow customers after 7 pm?

Also, a few more sauces options might help. They had soy sauce spray and a couple of spices, and salt.

As already mentioned in other comments, they need to work on the approach road. The signboard on the main road is hardly visible. Almost missed it. The approach road needs to have a few lights installed. Currently it just have reflectors. Very difficult to follow it in evening after sunset as it is pitch dark. For a moment we thought about turning back :)

Overall a good place to spend some time with your friends. Just ensure you reach with time...

Amazing barbecue garden with decently priced set meal - 3300 Yen per person for lots of meat, seafood and some vegetables which you grill yourself. I'd rather have a little more vegetables and less meat, as I couldn't finish the course (i.e. too much meat) and I eat a lot!

Very clean and large toilets, with large sink - aspect which might be important for people with braces who must brush after the meal.

This place is great! The wife and I were barely able to finish all of the food on the platter they bring out. The fish and meat were really good quality and made it worth every penny! The ambiance was amazing and there were cool little activities available to play. Reservations are required the day of. The price you pay per person is how much they bring out the one time.
