I didn’t choose this place and my wife read reviews in Japanese and arranged the reservation in Japanese so not sure exactly what amenities were promised but my wife was disappointed by the size of the beds and said they were smaller than advertised. Aside from that, nearly good enough for me but the place was cleaned by an amateur. My wife noticed algae or mold in the upper part of the sink. Once she said something, I definitely saw it, along with some on the lower shower holder and on top of the shower curtain rail. Basically cleaned by someone who doesn’t know where to look to really clean. I had to clean it with a sponge and dish soap we bought from the convenience store. After cleaning with such meager supplies, my wife could use the toilet/bathroom. Still, there were stains from the algae/mold. Anyway, also, it’s at the very top of a hill/mountain. I randomly booked Guest House Ishitatsu and could not have chosen a better place for what I wanted to do. My stay here was made by the kindness and hospitality of the owner and if you are a backpacker, surfer or budget traveller I can only highly recommend Ishitatsu as a base for exploring Shirahama beach, Shimoda city and the stunning Izu Peninsula. I wish I could have stayed longer. The rooms are compact but very warm. And the whole place feels like it's still stuck in the 90s which gives it a very vintage look and I really liked it.
The bathroom is spacious and there are sufficient restrooms for usage.
The host was very responsive and helpful.
The prices are budget friendly.
