磯一 — Restaurant in Shimoda

This is an absolute gem hidden in the middle of Shizuoka. The environment of the restaurant is amazing, with the wooden tables and the old Japanese style architecture. Also, there are some tables outside that are just charming and perfect for a place that sits literally in front of the ocean. The service seems to be done by the family, who are very good in the hospitality. I have the "omakase set", for 2500 JPY. Sure, it is pricey - especially for a place in the middle of nowhere - but the good is amazing. Very fresh sashimi. Delicious pickles. Amazing rice. A thick and rich miso soup.
