おたや Sushi Otaya — Restaurant in Tokyo

We are English-speakers visiting Tokyo and wanted to experience an omakase style sushi dinner. Our AirBnb host helped us pick out this restaurant, and we were so very pleased with our experience.

The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The chef/owner and his assistant were both friendly and personable. They also spoke some English which made things simple and for some fun conversation. I also felt the prices were very reasonable for the quality.

We knew the general location but weren’t sure exactly where to find it. The restaurant can be found on the second floor of the WIZ building in front of the bus stop.

Had my birthday dinner in this sushi restaurant and it was an incredible experience! There are a maximum of 5 seats, which is perfect as each customer gets a really personal experience. The sushi chef made a huge effort to explain each course to me in English, which was very kind of him. The service in general was outstanding and I felt very welcome. The food itself was so fresh, innovative and brilliantly presented. It'll be hard for me to ever return to a sushi conveyor restaurant after this experience!!!!
