I was really disappointed with both the service and the food. While on vacation in Japan from the US, I was excited to find an Ethiopian restaurant in Tokyo and took an hour-long trip from my hotel just to try it. When I sat down, I wanted to order kitfo and beyaynet, but was told they didn’t have kitfo, so I settled for just beyaynet.
A few minutes later, I noticed another customer being served kitfo—the same dish I was told wasn’t available. I didn’t think much of it at first, but when my order arrived, it was a huge letdown. The portions were small, and the food was cold. I understand that restaurants can have off days, but I spent over two hours of my limited vacation time only to be misled and served subpar food. Definitely not the experience I was hoping for. Only positive experience were the Japanese waiter was nice and the restaurant...
Read moreCame for the Mahiberawi and got exactly what I wanted. Mahiberawi is basically and assortment of Ethiopian curries, stews and vegetables served on a bed of injera with more rolled up injera lining the side of the plate. The presentation is a sight to behold and the variety of dishes is excellent if you’re looking to taste most of the dishes on the menu. A word of warning though, you can only order Mahiberawi for a minimum of 3 people (3000 yen per person as of October 2023). The portions are generous and you won’t need to order anything from the menu. They also provide extra injera upon request.
The course also comes with Ethiopian coffee at the end of the meal. The coffee is served on a tray which a some sort of incense to enhance...
Read moreBeware they Scam. We 3 people visited this restaurant expecting authentic Ethiopian cuisine but were disappointed. The menu lists the price of Mahiberawi as 3000/- yen, but we were shocked to see final bill of 9000/- yen , we find out that they charge 3000/- yen per person for this dish, which felt deceptiv and it’s actually a scam. Additionally, the food didn’t seem authentic; it appears they mix rice flour into the injera, compromising its authenticity. The restaurant should be more transparent and clearly state on the menu that the price is per person. Overall, the experience felt misleading and did not meet our expectations for genuine...
