Matoil's food allowed me to actually enjoy my trip in Japan without worrying about what I would be able to eat as a person with anaphylactic food allergies (to peanuts, sesame, and tree-nuts). They not only catered to my allergies very thoroughly, they also catered to my specific requests. The representative that I spoke with (Runa) spoke fluent English which made the entire process very smooth and easy. Matoil has a much larger menu than what they advertise, so I was able to have my meal plan filled with traditional Japanese foods. The food itself was great and I truly felt like I was able to experience what a normal Japanese person would eat in their daily lives. On top of this, I was able to have the food directly delivered to where I was staying which made the entire process much much easier.

The only real issue I had (which was quite minor) was the delivery of the food itself. There was one day where the food came approximately 30 minutes later than the intended window (which was 8am-12pm). I believe this was due to the fact that I was staying at a guest house in a relatively remote area of Kyoto, so anyone staying in a proper hotel shouldn't have this issue.

One thing to note in regards to food preparation is that many of the meals require boiling or microwaving the food.

Even considering these two minor details, I would instantly recommend this service to anyone with a food allergy who wants to travel in Japan. I truly felt that I was being taken care of and that I was in very good hands. I cannot understate the comfort I had knowing that I always had delicious food available if I couldn't eat...

We’ve just got back from 10 days Tokyo trip with our daughter (allergies anaphylactic to wheat, dairy, eggs, peanuts and treenuts). The trip was amazing and relaxing despite our nervousness about our daughter’s food during the trip. Matoil was the reason we could enjoy our time with minimal effort in cooking and little worry about our daughter’s allergies.

Runa from Matoil kindly guided me through the meals preparation for the trip. We communicated constantly through Line and video call for an entire month prior to our trip. The meals were systematically packed and sent to our accommodation waiting for us in the fridge when we arrived in Tokyo. The food was so yummy and in substantial portion. It was very simple to prepare with either in boiling water or using microwave. I would have had a very different experience of the trip if I didn’t find Matoil.
