Located in a quiet residential area 12-13 mins walk north of Mitaka station, Rowan's Coffee is a place I have been meaning to visit for a while but my schedule and theirs haven't matched. Until now! 🥳

A one-woman operation, all drinks and food are prepared by the friendly owner, which accounts for the limited opening days/hours. 👩🏻‍🍳

With just 3 small tables for eat-in, it is a compact place but the owner and other customers have big hearts and are super nice, even to first-time visitors such as myself. 🥺

I had an interesting chat with a local "Kire-e" (paper cutting) artist who kindly showed me some of his works, while the owner and I discussed some of our favourite bake shops in Tokyo. 💬

Individually wrapped goods such as granola bars, biscotti & American chewy cookies were also available but I came for the day's special - carrot cake! 🥕🐰

This was delightful - rich and super moist dough balanced with both spiciness and sweetness. The frosting was milky smooth, giving each mouthfeel a luxurious feel and I could have easily devoured another piece. 😋

Pairing well with black coffee, the house blend is individually hand-dripped over 4-5 minutes but is worth the wait. ☕️

Rowan's Coffee is a wonderful local coffee shop which serves as a hub for many of the people who live nearby. It recently celebrated its 1st anniversary in April but am sure that it will be around for many years to come. 🎂😌

C'est mon café préféré à Mitaka, et un où j'aime me rendre sur Tokyo quand je suis de passage (je vie sur Kyoto mais je viens de temps en temps sur Tokyo). La propriétaire et son employée sont vraiment sympathique on peut parler avec elle très facilement et on se sent tout rapidement comme un habitué.

Les gateaux sont délicieux et fait maison je me suis régalé à chaque fois que j'y suis allé, tout comme le café qui est de qualité. C'est pour moi toujours une bonne excuse de venir ici pour visiter les alentours ensuite.

Je recommande c'est un très bon café de Tokyo, une très bonne adresse pour profiter d'un bon gateau et d'un bon café ! (et j'en ai testé une centaine en ville)

English version : It's my favorite cafe in Mitaka, and one I like to go to in Tokyo when I'm passing through (I live in Kyoto but I come to Tokyo from time to time). The owner and her employee are really friendly, you can talk to her very easily and you quickly feel like a regular.

The cakes are delicious and homemade, I have enjoyed it every time I have been there, as has the coffee which is of good quality. For me it's always a good excuse to come here and then visit the surroundings.

i had a very lovely morning here. the cafe was quiet and the owner was so polite and welcoming. i had a slice of carrot cake and iced latte that i felt was one of the best i had in tokyo :) i also bought home a pack of drip coffee 💯 as a tourist, i enjoy finding small little shops like this where locals frequent. i recommend rowans to anyone who is visiting the area and is looking...
