Sushi Tsune Sasazuka is a quiet, no-fuss sushi spot that hits the mark where it matters: quality, service, and satisfaction. While not aiming to be ultra-high-end, it delivers fresh seafood, polite service, and a pleasant experience just steps from the station. 4/5 – Reliable, relaxed, and delicious.

Full Review: Sushi Tsune Sasazuka-ekimae: A Quiet Victory in Simplicity ⭐ 4/5 – Honest sushi, warm service, and a satisfying stop by the station

Tucked neatly into the Keio Crown shopping arcade right outside Sasazuka Station, Sushi Tsune (海鮮処寿し常) doesn’t shout for attention—and frankly, it doesn’t need to. There’s something comforting about its quiet presence, its lack of pretense, and its focus on doing one thing well: feeding you quality seafood in a calm, welcoming space.

Let’s get this out of the way—you’re not walking into a Michelin-star omakase experience, nor are you here for dramatic plating or Instagrammable interiors. What you are getting is a proper sit-down meal with fresh sushi, well-fried tempura, and a surprisingly satisfying unagi bowl that had the right balance of sweetness and depth. The cuts of fish were clean, the rice well-seasoned, and the presentation tidy.

Our party walked in without a reservation and were promptly seated. The staff were courteous, efficient, and soft-spoken—the kind of service that makes you feel respected without being hovered over. No pressure, no fuss, just steady attention when needed. Ordering was smooth, and they accepted credit cards, a small but appreciated convenience in a country where cash still dominates the dining scene.

It’s true that portion sizes might feel modest to some, especially those used to oversized rolls and endless refills. But here’s the thing: you’re in Japan. Order a bit more, and you’ll be perfectly satisfied. We certainly were. Every dish arrived in good time, well-prepared, and well-received.

English is spoken to a limited degree, but this is no real obstacle. Bring a translator app, or better yet, a friend who can read a bit of Japanese, and you’ll be more than fine. The menu has photos, and the layout is intuitive enough for most diners.

Final Thoughts: Sometimes, the most enjoyable meals aren’t the most expensive or flashy—they’re the ones that quietly deliver exactly what you hoped for. Sushi Tsune Sasazuka is one such place. Whether you’re a traveler seeking a reliable spot near the station, or a local wanting a quick sushi fix without the reservation drama, this restaurant checks all the right boxes.

Verdict: 4/5. No-frills, no stress, just good sushi and a pleasant atmosphere. I’d...

Been here twice and both were an enjoyable experience. First time was sitting at the counter and second time as a group at a table.

Food was delicious, the nigiri were fresh, especially the different toro (tuna). Sushi is expected to be good, but what was surprising was the crab cream croquette which was delicious and an umami bomb of flavour.

Staff were helpful and friendly, and the price...

Food and drinks for two ended up being ¥6000. Service was friendly and there was an English menu with lots of photos. They were pretty attentive to our non-verbal cues (noticed when we were ready to order and when we were ready to check out). Fish was decent quality and sushi chefs seemed to really know what they were doing. Would come again for a humble, no...

Last day in Japan and we had been wanting to try this place. Definitely not disappointed. Service was very good. The gentleman there could speak some English so it was a great help. Food came out fast and tasted very fresh. Would recommend.
