This place is FANTASTIC. The food is EXCELLENT. Everything is top notch.
I went here last night with three other people because some other places we had called were reserved. The owner answered and confirmed they had space for four (note, reservations are required and the whole restaurant only seats like eight people) so we made our way over.
First, the place is really cute. Great decor. Funky. Fun. You can see the owner cooking. But also really peaceful. Information about the restaurant and the owner's/chef's history is available. He cooked in an Italian restaurant in Tokyo for 10 years before deciding to learn Italian cooking in Amelia, Italy, and returning to Okinawa to open his restaurant.
We ordered two aperitifos - the red wine with amaretto and the white wine with limoncello - both were delicious. The red was amazing. We had the insalata caprese and a bread baked with mozarella and cherry tomatoes. Divine. And then we ordered four mains, two vegetarian and two meat: porcini mushroom risotto, spaghetti with spicy tomato sauce and mushrooms, duck confit with balsamic glaze, and roasted pork. All of it was phenomenal. I personally had the risotto and I can say that ordering risotto in a restaurant is always risky, but this was GOOD. I had to swat my husband's hand away from trying to steal bites from my plate! And for dessert, we ordered the tiramisu (delicious) and the creme brulee (delicious). The creme brulee had some Okinawan plantain on the bottom and a grape inside it. Very interesting and very good.
I would absolutely recommend visiting Bar Amelia. We're very sad it took us so...
Read moreWhat a truly great experience! One of the best meals I have had since coming to the island. I loved watching the chef prepare the food. He takes such great pride in doing so! It has a very cozy atmosphere, it holds 10 people comfortably, so reservations are a must. We had the chef sampler, duck and lamb. I have no words, the food was incredible. I had never had a roasted radish before that evening, and I have to say I'm in love! They offer a variety of drinks and wine. I tried a drink made with white wine and lemon cello, which was so refreshing and delicious, and two glasses of the house red which made me a very happy girl! We meet a fantastic couple, who where here on vacation. They brought my husband a glass of Vinsanto to try, which was dreamy. It tasted a lot like a port, but it is a wine. They owns are so friendly, the food is incredible, and the place was so warm and inviting, I could eat here every day! I look forward to trying everything...
Read moreWhat a wonderful little Italian restaurant in Uruma! The Chef actually studied Italian cuisine in Italy so the menu is authentic. The fish caught locally was done perfectly with a blend of tomato based sauce with veggies grilled just right! My mother ordered risotto and the blend of sautéed spinach and mushrooms in a light cream sauce was delicious! The pasta of the day was a Gorgonzola based and just divine! Dessert was crème burlee with island bananas baked inside served with the right amount of caramelized tip!! I almost don’t want to share this gem of a place! The ambience invites the kind of slowness that prompts meaningful conversations ❤️the attentive attention you get from the couple who owns the place will make you feel like a regular even on the...
