Matsuya — Restaurant in Uruma

We arrived in Okinawa on a Friday afternoon, eager to find a place to eat. Unfortunately, most of the restaurants were not open until 5-6pm. However, we stumbled upon a cozy spot where we could remove our shoes and enjoy our first meal in Japan in a tatami setting - Matsuya, being one of the classic chain restaurants in Japan.

The beef slices we ordered were incredibly juicy and bursting with flavor. We seasoned them with the yuzu/citron sauce available at the self-service station. The accompanying Japanese rice and fresh cabbage slices salad provided a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors of the beef. It was the perfect meal to satisfy our hunger during this awkward time between lunch and dinner.

If you’re looking for a quick and cheap meal, look no further. I got a bowl of meat and rice, extra meat, and soup for a little over ¥1000.
