After my experience with Kura Sushi in Ikebukuro, I proposed to visit another establishment on a susequent outing in the area. Three and a half blocks from the East Central Exit of Ikebukuro Station is がってん寿司 Gatten Sushi (in the sub-basement of the ラウンドワン 池袋店 Round One Ikebukuro Amusement Center). I recommend taking the elevator down. I visited the Warabi town, Saitama Prefecture branch of Gatten Sushi in 2018 after visiting the Kawanabe Kyosai Memorial Museum. I was impressed by the service and offerings. It is housed in its own building. The customers sit at a marble counter and order from touch screen menus (with an English language option but it doesn't extend to some items on special menus). There are four or so sushi chefs in the middle of tne conveyor belt. This visit, I patronized the Ikebukuro shop twice and the Warabi shop once (again after a visit to the Kawanabe Kyosai Memorial Museum nearby). I will combine my observations in this review of the conveyor belt sushi chain. Gatten has no where near the number of shops as Kura Sushi or Sushiro and is not as cheap. But the offerings are decidedly more interesting and they put wasabi on the sushi (if you wish). I find having to add wasabi myself to be an imperial pain in the oshiri. What is sushi without sake? 比較的近所ながら、なかなか訪れる機会がなかった。
友人2人と小学生と幼児の5人で訪れました。
コロナ禍の緊急事態宣言中なので、営業は20:00まで。
入店は18:30位で、入口の予約待ちタッチパネルには家族連れが1組。
タイミングにも依ると思いますが、今回は10~15分程度の待ち時間でした。
入口の待ち用ソファーは奥の方にもあり、5人の家族連れ、3家庭分くらいのキャパはありそうです。
入口に100-400円くらいのガチャガチャがあり、子連れだと、ねだられるかもしれません。
テーブル席は、寿司が回っているコンベア横は6人掛けで、数席あります。
メニューは、独自に頑張ってる感じがして、好感を持てますが、やはり、地方のドメスティックな回転寿司屋に比べると、やや見劣り感はあります。
この辺りは、関東圏一円だと、概ね銚子丸が一歩抜きん出ている感があるので、しょうがないですね。
