In Search of the Perfect Açaí Bowl
✨English below
I first discovered Kona’s Coffee at the Kazo location, then visited the Shin-Funabashi branch a few times — and since I love their açaí bowl, this time I went to the Yachiyo-Midorigaoka location.
Out of all the Kona’s Coffee branches I’ve been to, this one was hands down the best. The interior was open and airy, with high ceilings that really gave off a Hawaiian vibe. • Aloha Mochiko Chicken Plate – ¥1,529 • Açaí Bowl (M size) – ¥1,320
I feel like I always end up ordering this combo. The mochiko chicken is coated in glutinous rice flour and deep-fried — super crispy, with a strong garlic flavor and a nice spicy kick.
At first, I thought the price was a bit high, but the generous portion size and delicious flavor always convince me to get it again.
There are two sizes of the açaí bowl — S and M — and this time I went with M.
The açaí was icy and refreshing, topped with plenty of fresh fruit, granola, and honey. It’s exactly the kind of açaí bowl I love — totally my vibe 🐥
Another thing that really stood out at this location was the service. Even though it was busy, a staff member came over to let us know how long the wait would be, and when clearing the plates, they kindly asked how everything was. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had this level of service at a chain restaurant — I was...
Read moreThe atmosphere and style is the main draw with laid back haiwain music playing. A plus is dogs are allowed in the Al fresco area which can be closed off. The food was good, maybe a level above a regular family restaurant. There was a mix of things on the loco moco plate, some prepared in house but others you could tell were batch produced. Overall I was happy with the food, but it felt like it was assembled rather than a chef being attentive...
Read moreThis place is definitely a must-visit for me now! The staff were so warm and kind. On a rainy day, they even brought me a blanket—such a thoughtful surprise that really made my day. Everything felt perfect—the atmosphere was relaxed and cheerful, and I had a wonderful night. The food was also amazing! We ordered nachos with chips, pancakes with cream and fruit, and everything was absolutely delicious. There coffee were also really...
