素晴らしい経験でした!I absolutely love this place at the foot of the Temple. Went for a short mini lunch whilst waiting for the train. Was welcomed by the smiling family staff. The homemade soba is amazing (I read in the train station later Yamagata is Ramen Province and King of Soba :)) and the best intro to Yamagata Soba. I had the cold soba. Very tasty and I love the Ramen. The lady also gave me a snack for the train - proudly made by their house sweet soba twists!
Local places such as these are a gem. The menu is only in Japanese but just going with a smile and try using basic phrases. The menu has pictures ;)
Hospitality is omotenashi. A wonderful way to feel good after climbing up to the top of the temple...

Read moreThis place is incredible! The soba was so delicious, we got the duck nabe set and it was our favourite! Tempura was also great and our kids loved their ramen.
There was one lady in particular that served us and she was so sweet and kind! To both us and and our kids. Building itself is also stunning. Wish we had more time to just sit and soak it up.
They also offer free luggage minding if you dine there - but note they close at 3pm. We ended up using coin lockers!
Would come back here in...
