Tasty soba meal and beautiful tatami room. Be mindful if you have a train or appointment scheduled in the next few hours as the service can get slow and very unpredictable during a rush. It took us nearly 30 minutes to realize they had forgotten to take our order, then another 40 minutes after that wondering if perhaps it got lost again. We usually don't want to be pushy and ask every 20 minutes to avoid breaking the flow of service but seeing that everybody else was done and gone before we even got anything on the table we felt like we had no choice. The reaction was also a bit unsettling considering what we've been used to in Japan. My guess is it was maybe too much of a rush for just one person to handle which is completely understandable. The fact that we had to get a bit pushy again after all that so we could pay and run for our train after eating a very filling soba added a bit of unnecessary stress...

Waited another hour before getting served and being asked "are you in a rush" when the service is just really really slow. The soba were okay, too much fat but the taste was good. This restaurant is a lovely little one. The inside is tatami floor which is very open and feels spacious. It has a lovely view of the outside river.
The food (soba) was fresh and clean tasting, very refreshing after visiting the temple. There is some English on menus.
