【心温まる一休み:絶景と美味しさのハーモニー】 Nestled beside a serene river, お休処 対面石 is a charming little spot where tradition and hospitality come together effortlessly. The warm, homey atmosphere made us feel like locals the moment we stepped inside, with the radio playing nostalgic Japanese tunes and news in the background. I tried the Imo-ni-soba and zunda mochi—both were exceptional. The hearty soba was perfect for the chilly December weather, and the zunda mochi was a delightful reminder of the region’s unique flavors. Portions were generous, leaving us more than satisfied. The couple running the establishment were incredibly welcoming, their hospitality adding a personal touch to the experience. The restaurant also offers a stunning river view from the window seats, making the meal feel like a tranquil retreat. This place is a gem worth discovering, especially for anyone seeking delicious local specialties in a cozy setting. 【Features】 🚃 15 minutes walk from station 🚘 Parking: Many spots available at 500 yen/day ⏰ Opening hours: 🍽️ Order: Imo-ni-soba, Zunda Mochi 🔌 Electrical Outlets available for: Few seats 🎵 Music played: Japanese radio with news and nostalgic songs 🔙 Would I visit again? 💓Definitely

Date of enjoyment: 13/4/25 Came here on a Sunday morning after doing the 1015 steps to the top of Yamadera. It was a cold and rainy morning and this was the perfect way to reward the climb and most importantly a hot bowl of food. We ordered the hot soba with wild Nameko mushrooms, the imo-no soba which is the beef stew with potatoes and Aoba and a vegetarian miso dango. Firstly, the dango is massive and totally delivers with a very mochi mochi texture. Rhe Nameko mushroom is amazingly umami and the broth of the soba is something to devour as it was warming and thick almost like thickened clear broth. The stew was also another winner but as most people ordered the set, I think it was best to order the set to get a best of all the worlds. This is a great little spot to warm up or cool down after an epic climb and truly part of the Yamdera experience.

This local eatery place has really traditional yet beautiful interior with very friendly owners and staff, we booked in advanced as we know we want to visit the yaamdera and then come by for lunch, the owners even kept our small luggage for us while we climb the mountain, they are really very kind.

the signature set meal (teishoku) they have includes all the local specialties - soba noodles, yam stew (imoni), seasonal vegetables, seasonal rice (mine was bamboo shoots - takenoko) and warabi mochi. the variety is just one meal is awesome and also very reasonably priced. their tempura set was also delicious with various seasonal vegetables tempura.

highly recommended to visit for a meal if you are in the area, just to enjoy good food, enjoy the serene and beautiful atmosphere...
