If I could give 10 stars on every category, I would. This place was beautiful 😍 and the food and hot drinks were delicious. The atmosphere was pure delight.
The fact that they don't allow kids is an absolute plus if you want to enjoy your holiday away from screaming spoilt American children and their parents in particular. Don't let the bad reviews keep you away, unless you have kids, but honestly why are you bringing kids under ten to this place? Don't you love your kids? This is a very adult traveller destination (not in a creepy way, but just that the vibe is not a kid type holiday), so those who rated it low just have no clue how to plan a holiday that is appropriate. Stay in Osaka or Tokyo if you want to bring your kids.
If you love a cosy place with pleasant staff and a rustic country dried flowers vibes and a delicious apple pie to warm you up, this is the best spot we've been in the area, especially when other things are closed much of the week.
If I could live in the building, I would. It's so dreamy and country farmesque.
Enjoy if you are nearby - it is well worth the walk through the snow to savour this...
Read moreSunday: I walked over with my 5 year old and saw the No Kids under 10 sign. I sent her back to our cottage and waited in line to ask for takeaway pie. “No takeaway today, so sorry.” Monday: Husband and I decide to alternate taking turns getting pie alone and minding children. I wait in line and ask if they have takeaway today. Not today. I ask what day they would have takeaway. Some internal discussion and the answer, “Tomorrow will have takeaway.” Husband suggests I order 4 slices of pie and claim I can’t finish and ask for a box. I order 1 slice to eat there and propose to bring back some of its packable. Pie is not packable, all drowned in melted ice cream. Tuesday: Our last day in the area, I invent an excuse to keep us in the area until Papermoon opens at 11am. I wait in line and confirm takeaway is possible today. My turn comes, I am asked for my order. Apple pie? “No Apple pie takeaway.” They do give me 4 slices of the dark cherry pie though. My kids enjoyed them! But if I’d known, I would have tried the Apple pie when I came by myself on Monday.
Pie was very delicious though!! Glad I got to...
Read moreCame on a cold Saturday around 12. There was a wait of almost an hour with more than 10 groups ahead of us. I searched for cafes around Yamanakako but I wasn't planning to come here. However, we came because the bike rental owner? At sansui recommended the apple pies here. As he said it was so popular and he was right. When it was our turn to order, it was sold out. I hope they can make more of the apple pie especially on busy days because it is popular. Had the apricot cheese cake and the pear almond pie instead, which are not bad at all. The coffee was great though I wasn't expecting the latte to be served in a "bowl" not a cup. Their blend coffee is unexpectedly good.
On cold days like today, i recommend to sit indoors because only 2 tables outside have heaters. They also have a small boutique with random items to check out while waiting. Lots of car parking space. And bikes can be parked near the entrance.
