Yudanaka Brewery Complex U — Restaurant in Yamanouchi

Good points: The beer and food are delicious. We loved that they are using local Nagano ingredients. The staff was willing to help and treated us politely. The water in the hot spring was pleasant, not too hot and not too cold, just exactly as we like. The building design is new and very nice.

Bad points: The room was dirty inside, we found leftovers from the previous guests, when we entered the room, we found the spilled beer over the shelves near the entrance and table. Also, the carpet is made of the material where you can clearly see the multiple footprints of the previous guests which felt gross. If you keep using these carpets, at least brush them to hide the footprints. If you are charging a minimum of about 12,000 yen per room for 3,5 hours, at least make sure it's clean and pleasant to use.

Staff doesn't know the contents of the dishes and they do not have a food allergen list. I had to ask about every single dish and it took so long for the staff to check it. Also, after I asked for the simple cut vegetables without any animal-derived products, they served it with the fish flakes which I noticed only after I finished the dish. That's a traumatizing experience for people with food restrictions and not taking it seriously may result in serious health damage. If you have dietary restrictions, I would recommend to avoid this place.

Also, there is no elevator to access the spa area, not suitable for customers with disabilities.

this brewery opened in 2023. about 10 min walk from Yudanaka station. the complex has private sauna area, cafe restaurant and the shop selling craft beer and chocolate. i ordered a plate of snow burger and craft beer tasting set. the burger consistes of very soft white buns and tasty Shunshu beef pate with apple slices. it was good! about craft beer, i tried three beers. all of them are quite unique. there are some regular craft beer like pale ale and IPA. but highly recommend to try SAKE Premium. the shop closes at 18pm. so if you want to enjoy craft beer after the dinner time, you need to bu the bottles. that is the only...

I tried the two seasonal beers: jasmine ale and tropical lager. Both delicious!

Fish and chips are hot and flavorful. Hits the spot.

The grilled chicken was VERY bland and small in portion compared to the picture presented.

So I guess the food is always great in theory but sometimes hits the mark. They made a mistake on my drink order and downsized it, but corrected it promply after I pointed it out

Overall, I recommend it in low season.
