Domino's Pizza — Restaurant in Yokohama

I was, I thought I could be the bigger person and let it slide, but when it happens 3 times, every bone in my body would not accept it.

The very first time, on July 1 last year I placed an order at 11:35pm at Idogaya branch. They are open until midnight so I didn't think anything of it. It was prepaid so I took the 2 large pizzas like any other times. When I opened the boxes, however, the pizzas were so undercooked that we might as well have had raw dough. I actually blamed myself for ordering "too late." I simply put the pizzas in my own oven and cooked it for at least 15 to 20 mins.

The second time, it was on Nov 8. The order was placed at 11:40pm at the same branch. Oh I didn't want to order any pizzas at that hour, but I had some guests over from the states and everyone was in the mood for some late night slices. I did warn them of what happened previously when we ordered the pizza "late." Sure enough their craving took the best of them, us. This time, I checked the pizzas before taking them in. This time, they looked ok at least edible. One thing I realized I should have done when I brought them in was checking underneath the pizzas. One of the guests lifted the pizza pie from one side and started checking the bottom and instantly he said, yep this is definitely undercooked. Everyone was a good sport about it, but I still felt horrible and compelled to cook it more myself.

The third and will be the last time happened a couple hours ago. the order was placed at 10:04pm. I wasn't in particularly in a good mood, but going about my day. Partner and I were too tired to cook or eat out so we resorted to ordering in some pizza. The thought of getting undercooked pizza did not cross either of us. I wasn't gonna check, but I did. This time, I told my partner to hang on to the money before we are certain. I took the pizzas and checked underneath thoroughly. It was clear that at least 70% of the bottom was pale and smooth. I could make out some brownish bumps in the center but that was about it. This time, something clicked. I took the money and put it in my pocket and said to the delivery boy that this happened three times and that I'm not accepting it. I told him to call the manager and he did and he offered to cook us new pizzas. It's late and I'm tired so I said ok and sent him off. While waiting for the new pizzas, I couldn't help myself to think, so we have to wait even longer due to their incompetence and pay full price for it? When he came back again I checked thoroughly and it was much better. I reluctantly accepted a 500 yen coupon and gave them the money for the pizzas. As I sat in my dining room munching away while stressing if this pizza was tampered with or not, I started getting quite upset that I was in this position. Whatever the clicking I felt earlier, it grew to a fiery force making me determined to end this series of disappointment once and for all. I backtracked all the online receipts and found the receipts for the other 2 times (hence the precise dates and times mentioned above). I put together a plan of attack and headed to the Idogaya Dominos branch. Before entering, I started video recording because I've seen on Youtube people doing this. Turns out there are only 2 teens working, one the delivery boy and the other who seems like still in high school posing himself as the manager. With my limited Japanese, I explained my case as much as I could. My goal was to basically get full refund on all 3 orders. Anyway, long story short, got full refund for today's order and the other 2 I have to deal with the corporate office.

A couple findings, since June last year, this particular branch and couple others including Minatomirai's, became a franchise. The quality control clearly went out the window since this transition took place. That's pretty much it. I just really wanted to vent and warn others not to order pizza too late here. I did learn a new word, gensoku. It means principle. I looked it up to say that it's not about money.

22:40に注文して1時間以上たっても届かず 連絡をしたら今配達に向かっていると。 待っていても来ず外に確認したら 隣の家の前に置いてありましたが、 支払いもまだしていないし、置き配にもしてないのでまさかこれなわけは無いだろうと思いましたが念の為また電話をかけたところ 営業時間外だからか電話に出ず、何回か掛けたら出ました。 上記の件確認したところ配達ミスだと。 おそらく隣の家に置いてあったものが注文したものだと。 急いで作って配達すると言っていましたが 時刻23:55。 届くのは15分から20分だと。 あまりにも酷いです。

支払いもしてない上に置き配お願いもしていないのに無言で置いていくなんて有り得ますか？外に出なければ気づかなくてずっと待っていましたよ？ それに今日は雨で、雨の中配達して下さるのは有難いですが、いつから置いてあったのかわからないですしキンキンに冷えていましたし、注文した内容も間違っていましたし、 もちろん食べるつもりもありません。 ドミノさんは関係ないですが、 もともと9時頃に他のお店で配達を頼んでいて到着予定時刻に連絡があり事故したため配達ができなかったと。 その後また別で注文しましたが、配達員が見当たらず配達できないと。 その時点でもう時間は22時過ぎていましたが、諦めかけながらドミノさんを頼みました。 楽しみに待っていたのに、残念です。 本...

持ち帰り半額でLサイズピザが1枚1500円で買えるようになったので、週末などにちょくちょく利用するようになりました。たまたま自分が「当たり」を引いているだけかもしれないのですが、接客や電話時の対応が本当に良いです。

最初に店に入った時は若いスタッフが多く目に入り、キッチン奥で大声で雑談をしていた為、偏見から「衛生管理とか大丈夫だろうか、学生バイトのノリで何か適当な対応等をされないだろうか」と勘ぐってしまったのですが、レジの人はちゃんと目を見て話してくれますし、笑顔もばっちり、喋り方やイントネーション、対応もとても丁寧でしっかりとしていました（配達の方々も同様でした）。最初に気になった後方の雑談も、私（客）の来店を察してか、すぐに静かになりました。

他のレビューをみると冷めたピザの話や、生焼けのピザの話がいくつかあがっていますが、そういった点も、良い人材が長く続けていける環境があれば、どんどん改善されて行くだろうと思いました。

ピザは少し贅沢をしたい日の食事ではあるので、接客が悪かったり配達時の扱いが悪いと、奮発をしただけに一気に悲しい気持ちになってしまいます。しかし、ここのお店はこれからも使いたいと思えるお店でした。
