Ikinari Steak — Restaurant in Yokohama

I occasionally go to Ikinari Steak in Kamiooka when I'm in the mood for a good steak. The food is excellent; the meat is succulent, grilled to perfection, and served on a hot cast iron plate, accompanied by a few small vegetables. The steak is cooked to perfection it's really delicious. My only regret, as a European, is that the sides consist only of plain white rice, a tiny salad, and soup served in a coffee cup, which is a bit disappointing. It was my first experience at Ikinari Steak (as a foreigner). I was not sure what to expect, but my experience was not more than ok. I understand it's a budget steak chain, but this flavor can be easily achieved at home IMO. To be fair, I chose the 'economy range' of meats, but for rare and expensive cuts I don't feel the athmosphere there. Also, sorry to sound culturally ignorant, but I feel plain rice as a side looks and tastes wrong. I prefer (even if simple) bread sticks...

Steak was OK. Had the domestic ribeye. Ordering process was confusing at first. 1.Order your steak and steamed veggie sides at the kitchen and see the cut before the cooking. 👍 Can ask to change if not to your liking too. Order your salads, soups and drinks at your seat. Seats are small and not so comfy but it isn't a restaurant for lounging. Just eat and go!
