I actually went here about two years ago, and to this day I still think about this place. So I’m writing it down to share a little bit of my experience.
The unplanned, almost accidental stop at Café Kopi Luwak has become one of my favorite memories of Japan.
It was on a random Tuesday when I went on a solo trip to Kamakura, and somehow I couldn’t find an open restaurant. So I kept walking, far, until I reached this café. It felt as if fate had guided me there. The café’s name comes from my country, so even though I was far away, I felt right at home.
The owner greeted me very politely, and since I couldn’t really speak Japanese, another customer—a beautiful lady who spoke both Japanese and English—helped. The three of us ended up conversing while I enjoyed the dry curry plate with an iced latte that I had ordered.

It’s a dog-friendly restaurant; in fact, you’ll find the cute Puri-chan and Mimi-chan just chilling around.
