So disappointed as this lovely Inn has always been a favourite place for us when we visit Jersey. I booked on line for myself and my husband, when we arrived it didn't appear that they knew of our booking. We ordered the fish soup that was ok but came with a very hard piece of sour dough toast! We waited patiently for 45 mins for our main of Jersey lobster with jersey royals and salad, only to be brought to our table someone else's meal! Then had it swiftly taken away by a very harassed waiter!! Another 30 mins until ours arrived, what a disappointment!! The potatoes where underneath the lobster smothered in sauce, and the salad was in a tin pot which just consisted of lettice and one piece of cucumber! Needless to say we didn't stay for desert or coffee. The staff were fine but very over stretched for the...

*update Yikes!! It's been awhile since I came here and somehow it got worse! My chips were uncooked and crunchy.. Not crunchy in a good way and my beef was over cooked.... And the staff have changed but are still lifeless husks that display no emotion. *update finished

Meh... Rather average in every way. Staff are miserable. Booked table and once I got there had to wait ten minutes to even see a member of staff... So stood around waiting...

Then finally we get a table and it's dirty.. Crumbs and food on it.. But it's ok! Because here comes a staff member who will surely clean it up? Nope... Just put the menus onto of the crumbs....

The guy who brings out the food.... Damn! He's the most miserable person I've even met.

Would give zero...

Cannot praise this place enough. Had the best tomato and basil soup after so long. Also try the chicken wings. For mains it was wild mushrooms linguine and steak and ale pie.

All boxes got ticked under one roof at The Portelet Inn - good service and friendly staff, deliciously tasty food and wonderful ambience. Absolutely value for money and timely service.

After a horrible lunch experience at an “x” place over rated on Google and over priced, serving cold food after 45mins of wait, this dinner made my day and gave me a hearty warm and tasty dinner to finish my day nicely.

Thank you The Portelet Inn for such a...

I have to split this review into two parts. Firstly the food is excellent. I had the chicken Red Curry, and it was superb. All the other meals were equally as good (we were a table of 8). Now, this was a warm evening on a Tuesday during the school holidays, and the pub was very busy. But they were seriously short staffed. We sat down at 6pm and our children's mains didn't appear until 8pm (they are 3 and 5), despite chasing multiple times. Very, very poor. I'd go back as the food is superb, but they need to sort the staffing issue.
