My (now) husband and I wanted to host a dinner for our wedding guests on the evening before our wedding. We live in Manchester and were having a destination wedding in Jersey. The few times we had previously been in Jersey we had always had dinner at La Bastille, as we loved the food and ambience here, so it was a no-brainer that we would have our dinner here. I had never hosted a dinner for 41 people before, but Jewel made it so easy. From the moment I contacted her, she was very clear with what she needed from me and sent me the menu and pre-order form. Several guests commented on how good the menu looked. Also, there were quite a few people with food allergies and dietary requirements, but there were plenty of options for everyone. Jewel was very responsive to any queries I had and not to mention extremely friendly and lovely! She invited me to swing by the restaurant to meet her and discuss my requirements if I was in the area. A few days before the event, we were already in St Helier, so we stopped by La Bastille for a drink and asked for Jewel. It turned out that David, who was tending the bar at the time, was actually Jewel's husband, and they had taken over the restaurant a few months ago (Power couple!!!). Even though Jewel was having a day off, she popped down to the restaurant, gave me a big hug and reassured me that everything was ready for the dinner. On the evening of the dinner, everything went so smoothly - the tables were arranged perfectly and Jewel even threw in some balloons for decor, the food was absolutely gorgeous, and all the guests had an amazing time. Even though we had a couple of last minute cancellations due to flight delays and additions due to people failing to RSVP, Jewel and David were very understanding and accommodating. Jewel and David - thank you again for your hospitality. I am already looking forward to our next trip to Jersey and next meal at...

Altogether, Labastille is a restaurant that gets the essentials right: location, atmosphere, food and service. It’s a spot worth returning to...
Read moreHaving never been to Jersey before and looking for somewhere to eat, we came across La Bastille. First off, the staff were pleasant and friendly. Secondly, there were good menu choices. I had a crab salad for starter and my wife had scallops. To be honest, I am not a seafood fan but the crab salad was delicious. For main I had line caught sea bass with seasonal vegetables. Really tasty and good quality. My wife had pork belly. To finish I had Churros to finish and my wife had creme brulee. To be honest we paid way more than we normally would but, hey, this is Jersey. AND the quality was so good we were happy to pay. Only thing that spoiled the night was a group of cyclists who turned up and were really noisy. One was loudly swearing and the staff did not say anything. We had pretty much finished so just left, and the outside seating area cleared fairly quickly. Shame really, and I suspect they visit...
