So this was my first time going to Cheffins Beaumont, and I found it rather interesting. The exterior is very well done and I love the granite and thatched roof. The outdoor wooden tables were a njce touch too. I booked online for a friend and I, and from while inside it looks like they don't accept walk-ins? (Not overly sure)
The interior if the resturant area was rather old fashioned, and I think that in the winter it would create a cold feel from the blue coloured walls. The skylights and pictures on the wall are nice to admire while waiting for your food. We didn't get to check out the bar area properly as we were pressed for time, but from what I could see it was very simple and warm looking.
Down to the main reason I came here, the food. I started with the beef tartar and finished with the slow roasted pork belly. Both were so very nice and I cleaned my plate. For the price of the meal, it was expensive, I had only had one pint of Guinness with my meal; but it was definitely worth the price. I would of really liked to have tried a dessert, however I had filled myself up with my main. The choice of desserts looked delightful and I regret not having a nibble now. I'll have to go back again.
In the basis of the menu, the choice of food wasn't overwhelming. There was a sufficient amount of items on the menu, and I was still spoilt for choice. The drinks menu was bigger than the menu for the food. Its endless list of wines and spirits at all different price points to suit all.
We went on a Sunday evening at roughly 7pm. It seemed quite queit but more and more people began to turn up, it's only been open a few days, not even a week yet and I believe many more people will flock towards it in the coming weeks.
My experience here was very nice and I'd recommend it to anyone with a taste for high quality food and drink. I'll be going back again...
Read moreJust for reference I’ve worked in a 3 Michelin star restaurant and have my own large customer facing sales based company so have enough life experience to make these comments. I had 2 starters and the scallops were well cooked but was made to be average by thumb prints on a starter plate costing £15 which is beyond lazy from both the chef and the waiting staff.
The duck rilletes almost resembled tuna mayonnaise and the bread almost cost me a dental appointment
The two staff members were chalk and cheese one was welcoming and the other made us feel very uncomfortable after I made a silly joke when she asked me if I’d like a single or a double “I said I’m single and how about yourself” I apologised then she over paid me in change which I made her aware of and she shouldn’t be in a public facing role if she can’t handle a wee joke followed by an apology followed by blind honesty that would of caused her issues when her till didn’t balance in the evening, plates left on the table for yonks, worst “candles” I’ve ever seen and a fire on television really should of been the sign I wouldn’t find this place of a decent standard 😂. I offered her another explanation and another apology and I said if she apologised I wouldn’t post this review. We were made to feel uncomfortable something I’m aware that I made her feel too but that’s why I apologised and explained several times about if only she had the emotional IQ to value her job and other people’s feeling I wouldn’t of spend 10 mins writing this review...
Read moreIf you're on Jersey - and even if you're not, but you can access it fairly easily via boats/flights - you simply HAVE to go to Cheffins. This must be one of the best places we've ever eaten, anywhere, ever. In fact, so unbelievably good was it that we visited first on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, for a family dinner... and enjoyed the meal so much that we booked in again for a meal two nights later on the 19th!
It's not just the food which is utterly exceptional, though - although the meals were incredible. If you're a meat-eater, some of the dishes might look pricey on the menu, but the Tribute To Beef and also the Belly Pork are incredible value-for-money, given what you get on each of them (for £24 and £19 respectively). Some of the accompaniments, such as Hispi cabbage in a melted cheese sauce, were utterly heavenly and good enough to eat on their own.
However, the ambience is wonderful too, and the service is genuinely exceptional - the ladies serving were attentive, polite, remarkably efficient AND they spotted we had a 7-year-old lad with us, so they recognised without us asking that serving his main meal with our starters (on both evenings) was paramount; and they then interacted in just the right way with him when serving to keep him entertained and happy.
Absolutely brilliant - whenever we're on Jersey, we'll always be back to Cheffins, but we might even grab flights to and from the island from EMA on the same day, just to go for dinner there! 10/10, every...
