If you're looking for the freshest seafood ever, literally fished for you, simply grilled and served right on the beach, this is your place. Disclaimer: don't expect anything luxurious. It's a very simple local place, with only two tables under a wooden hangar; but all is decorated with care, fresh flowers, and clean local cloths. Call Omari a couple of hours earlier and ask him what kind of seafood he can find for you: you'll be surprised by the care he puts into grilling it onto the traditional firewood barbecue, and serving it with fresh tomato salad, coconut rice, chapati, soup etc... with fruit and squeezed fruits juices as a complement. Expect to pay approx 2000 to 3000 kes per person, depending on the seafood you choose.
Omari can also arrange for you an early morning fishing tour with local experienced fishermen, on a small traditional wooden sailboat. Catch your own fish and eat it grilled a few hours later - great experience.
On the 1st day we ate octopus, lobster and fish catched in front of us, and on the 2nd day we had grilled seabreams and calamari that we...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at a seafood restaurant, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The owner, Omari, is not only a culinary maestro but also an incredibly kind and generous person. For our anniversary, he went above and beyond, creating a dinner with exquisite decorations that added a special touch to the evening.
The shrimps and lobster were culinary delights, showcasing the chef's expertise in preparing delectable seafood dishes. What set this experience apart was the opportunity to join Omari on a boat trip, adding an adventurous twist to our time at the restaurant. The genuine warmth and hospitality made us feel like valued guests.
The restaurant itself exudes a real African atmosphere, offering a unique and immersive experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking not just delicious seafood but also a memorable and culturally rich dining experience. Omari's passion for his craft and dedication to creating unforgettable moments truly...
Read moreThe place is simple (I mean it) but the people are really enthusiastic and sweet. They tried their best to prepare the best food for us. The place doesn’t have a proper menu, but everything is based on negotiation. Just tell them what you want to eat, and they will go to buy the fresh ingredients and cook on the spot.
So expect around 1 to 1.5 hour preparation time. I would suggest you order first, go to have a massage or a camel ride, and then come back afterwards for the meal. The environment can be a bit windy as well.
We ordered lobsters and octopus. The portion is much bigger than what we thought. The price is really good for what we get. They said that it’s straight from the ocean to the kitchen. The cooking style is simple but since it’s so fresh, it tastes amazing.
We really recommend it, but just make sure that you set the expectations right. This is not a normal restaurant but more like catch...
