Kenya is a nice place with extremely warm hospitable people. However we struggled to find a place for decent indian food.
We stumbled on New Chetna by accident with extremely low expectations.
The thali was OUTSTANDING and extreme VALUE FOR MONEY. We loved the food so much that on our way back to Nairobi we stopped for lunch almost at the cost of missing our train. If you are looking for an Indian vegetarian thali this is the place to go to in Mombassa. Also they retail Indian sweets and savouries ; some of which we purchased and all of which were delicious!
A place one should NOT MISS if you are an Indian...
Read moreWent there for Sunday special thali. Wow the food here is absolutely wonderful. Free parking is on the street. They get busy on Sundays so the service isn't up to par. No wait to be seated. The dining area is very clean and well lite. The starter item is served as soon as we are seated. So is the Lassi. First round of curries is served with puris and roti. Staff is constantly serving more items. The second round is served with rice. Finally a choice of two desserts is served . Overall the food was excellent and we had a good experience....
Read moreWhat a culinary experience! We got Thali lunch which comes with a starter of bhajias and the sweetest sauce! The main course is made of several sauces and stews that come in bowls. They give you up to 3 servings of everything. Desserts in form of sweets and cakes treats are also included. Left so stuffed and happy to have had dinner there. The service was fast with the waiters quick with orders. Highly recommend it. It's really clean and the prices are very affordable. Great for groups as well as family or alone....
