Spoiler alert. This is 3 star hotel and at best very pretentious 4 star hotel. I booked a presidential suite via Zen Hotels app and thought I got myself a bargain at 20k KES for 3 nights. I guess I got what I paid for in the end and less. First night I was checked in to a very untidy room that looked nothing like the photos, which later I was informed by the cleaners was actually deluxe room that was missing chairs, cushions, hairdryer, mini bar, bedside lamp, duvet cover, pillows. Bath was scratched up and running yellow water with floor constantly flooded and bad ventilation. Mosquito net around the bed was dirty and smell decade old. At least there was a non smart TV size of my laptop 😕.Upon complaint registered with reception I was told no other rooms available and will have to wait until 8am next day. Morning couldn’t come sooner and I was informed to come back at 9am when I had a sat down with duty manager who seem to be empathetic although asked me to wait until 12 once check outs are completed and I can be assigned with a clean room. At this point I almost demanded complimentary breakfast as I couldn’t just sit and wait. This was granted. Swimming pool and beach walk later I was moved to new room around 2pm that looked exactly the same less missing items and cleanliness issues. Fair to say my plans for the day now have been cancelled. I had another sit down with duty manager and reiterated my displeasure so far, but suggested complimentary meals would almost suffice to cover (seem to do the trick in my past experience working in hotel industry previously). I was to await a call back same day that never came. Positives? Swimming pools are clean and big enough for anyone. Food is actually nice, but not enough variety and definitely not worth 3k KES. Staff working there are amazing. Cleaners, restaurant staff and security are all lovely. Unfortunately it seems to me that they have been given a Fiat and told to...
Read moreI had a lovely experience in Muthu, Managers took their time to socialise with guest, one of them was Caren and Lilian. Rooms are specious but a little bit old. During dinner we met the lovely Mr Joseph who went above and beyond to make our dinner special, this man was completely amazing and wonderful to us very professional . Dinner and breakfast staff were very pleasant and polite, Alex, Evelyn, Essy and Doris. Can’t forget Mariam who is the hotel Animator, she was always walking around asking parent if they need kids to be entertained so they can enjoy themselves and she would even swim with the kids , Ali the pool guy was always ready to assist and kept and eye on the kids for safety, we witnessed him saving a 3 year old girl whose parent were not keeping an eye on her, this man needs to be appreciated more because he is a hero . I would have give this place 10/10 but I will give it a 8 only because dinner was not the greatest. Some nights the food selection would not compliment each other, for example having ugali and the only stew is creamy chicken or curry!!!!. Indian cuisine was every night although 95% of guest were not even Indian. Head chef needs to change the menu, never seen bbq chicken pizza with pineapple and no bbq 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 and you had to pick chicken bones off your pizza and it had different toppings every time you order it, am so sure they used left overs to make it because sometimes it tasted like Tandoori and one time it was just pure salt🧂we couldn’t even swallow 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 would not recommend it especially for...
Read moreI have had a nightmarish experience at this hotel and I am still at the resort waiting for the water to flow through the taps. The numbers of issues I have had began when I had to wait for 2 hours to be given a room (it was being cleaned I was told). No hot water to freshen up and it stayed that why for two days until I was given another room. The new room now has hot water but the water doesn't flow for most of the morning. There are no basic amenities that you would expect in a hotel room and when you ask for them it takes hours to appear. I can go on forever on the short comings of this hotel, suffice to say the hotel needs major renovation as it looks and feels totally tired with most things working on a wing and a prayer. As I write a review about the hotel I look at my hands and arms and see angry mosquito bites and my face bears half a dozen of them too (gone to the local shop and bought a large bottle of mosquito spray for my room). If there is a plus side to this establishment then it is the loyal staff, from the receptionist to the cleaners. A special mention to the barman at the Harry's bar, a joyous Mr James (009),who makes my stay a little bit more bearable with cold beers and small talks. The management is non existent and the manager is always missing in action. Finally, the owner of this hotel, if he/she reads the review should seriously think of refunding my, sizable, money spent to stay here on false promises of four...
