The place was recommended by a colleague of mine so I visited. A bit chaotic and rustic place with one common place to sit and one can then order from different eateries around. I ordered masala chai and aloo parantha. The masala tea was served in a earthern ware which reminds you of the way tea is served in roadside places in India. The tea was hot and super delicious. I didn't expect much from the aloo parantha as like any other Indian food serving outlet in Nairobi, even this one didn't come any close to being authentic when it comes to Punjabi dishes. The delicately spiced Raita was fresh. I would have preferred the parantha to be thin and mixed with onion coriander and wee bit chillies than a thick layer of mashed potatoes in half cooked layers of refined flour dough (not really whole wheat flour). I believe bhajia and tea would have been a better choice. Overall I would...

Where do I start? This was definitely a surprise experience. Tucked away in a plaza off Brookside Grove, we were seated outside in an area that catered to the entire plaza. There were three menus on the table for different restaurants. We decided to order the Button Pancakes (w. strawberries, sliced bananas, and maple syrup), a Savoury Cone (w. cheese balls, potato crisps, cheese nachos, mayonnaise and homemade chilli sauce), two hot drinks (Karak Chaii and Garam Chocolate). OMG, the Savory Cone was an immediate palette pleasing choice. Everything complemented each other, and it added to my joy of life. The Button Pancakes were delicious as well. The hot drinks delivered on flavor. Unfortunately, we did not know which drink was what.

We have already discussed bringing friends here to share in the experience. See you soon...

Chaiiwali is located inside GW Brooke Business Park along Brookside Grove. If you are a tea lover, then this is the perfect place for you. They offer a variety of teas served in little earthen pots and also have interesting accompaniments to go with your tea, all for less than Ksh 300 menu items.

I tried their pancakes, baked potatoes, and savoury cones, including their paratha, and they were all delicious. I highly recommend giving these items a try! They are perfect for cold weather and make for a great Sunday chill-out spot. Best of all, the prices are very affordable. Don't miss out on visiting Chaiiwali for an amazing...

The food I would only recommend the button pancakes, the karak tea not all that, the service was a poor show compared to a muhindi who was seated next to us, who was given a five star service as compared to us, to make matters worse the waitress explains to us the 250ml tea is less than the 300 ml so we order the 300 ml to compliment the taste, just to be brought with disposable tea cups while the other couple of indians are brought with a kettle and tea pot! When they were served they didn't have to ask for salt it was brought to their table, ours? We had to ask for salt. Anyway bad day for tea.. just settle for java.
