Dear Foodies,
Long Rant, please read with pinch of salt
Hi, I usually do not post reviews of restaurant, but usually follow quietly. If you lose me you’ve lost me, and if I love your food I will be back!
I do work in the service industry and am fully aware of the impact of negative reviews on a business, and especially in these trying times.
Under normal circumstances I would have just walked away, without complaining, as I don’t want to spoil my mood. However when 2 kids fell sick, both had shared the same dish, complaining of severe stomach ache. Where the other child landed in Emergency Dept and occurred a bill of 23,000/-, I decided to complain.
I tried to call and reach out to the Owner Jay and explain to him, but before even letting me speak, and explain - he demanded that I put my complaint in writing and then he would decide and at a certain point was literally screaming into the phone. I decided to hang up on him. He did continue to chat on WhatsApp.
Thus, I had to share my review on the Chocolate Room, on General Mathenge.
We went on a Sunday at 1.30pm as we were celebrating a 50th Birthday, we had a table reserved for us. For a Sunday, the place was very empty.
We ordered a starter plate of Nachos, Tacos and Open-faced burger, will share photos.
The Nachos were made of plain flour, and not corn flour. These were basically “Samosa” skins served with pieces of Avocado – not guacamole, no salsa and no sour cream
Then we got the Tacos, these again were made of Somosa skins served with beans and pieces of Avocado – not guacamole, no salsa and no sour cream, and a funny sauce, which was not salsa.
The shocking thing here is we got a “STONE” in the beans the size of your tiny finger nail! Yes a stone!. We called the Manager and showed him. In ten minutes another plate of the same was given to us to replace this. We politely refused! How can you in less than 10 minutes have prepared a fresh batch of beans and presented it. Most likely it came from the same pot of beans!
Then came the Open face Spinach Burger. The Spinach on it was well cooked and tasty, but what spoilt it was the “plastic” cheese on it. For a restaurant, one would expect a good quality cheese, not look like plastic liquid cheese. The patty was like a fried potato tikki, 2/3 the size of the burger. I believe in a burger one should taste the burger stuffing from the first bite to the last!. Their Fries were nice and crispy, and well made!
Once we refused the replacement batch, that it, all they did was take that off the bill. And nothing like desert on the house or any other offer to amend the situation.
I opted not to argue, knowing it would be my last time there. And left smiling.
What seriously changed my mind was when I was called by School to pick my child with a Stomach ache beyond tolerance. Similarly, my sister was called to pick her son and him being much younger, had a fever and had to be taken to Hospital.
As I mentioned I called Jay, and he asked me to put my complaint in writing to him, also said he did his bit of offering to replace the dish, which we refused. And taking it off the Bill. And he says he has a CCTV recording of us leaving the restaurant happily. Him and his restaurant were not worth spoiling my mood as we had a delicious cake we were waiting to cut. And opted not to do itat this restuarant. Then 3 whole days after the incident, and after complaining, he offered us a meal on the house!
Thank you but no Thank you, cannot afford bills of 25K...

Father’s Day is meant to be a celebration of love, gratitude, and cherished moments. For us, it turned into frustration and disappointment—courtesy of Cake Room by The Chocolate Room.
As loyal, long-standing customers, we placed an order for their Ferrero Rocher cake, a product we’ve enjoyed many times before. We expected the same rich, luxurious dessert we knew and trusted. What we received instead was nothing short of a poorly made imitation.
The cake that arrived was not the same Ferrero Rocher cake they advertise and have served us in the past. Instead of the signature rich texture and chocolate-hazelnut flavor layered with finesse, we got a bland, generic cream cake—topped off with a few Ferrero Rocher chocolates, almost like an afterthought.
Worse still, the chocolates weren’t even integrated into the cake's design. They had been loosely placed on top, not secured at all, and fell off during delivery. The result? A messy, subpar cake that looked—and tasted—nothing like what we paid for.
This wasn't a small mistake. This felt like a deliberate attempt to cut corners, to pass off a cheap alternative under a well-loved name, assuming customers wouldn't notice or complain.
But we do notice. Especially when you ruin a moment as meaningful as Father’s Day.
We trusted Cake Room by The Chocolate Room to deliver quality, like they always had. Instead, we felt cheated and disrespected. This wasn’t just a cake gone wrong—it was a betrayal of customer trust, and a complete disregard for a day that holds emotional significance.
If Cake Room values its reputation, it needs to acknowledge this failure, make amends, and stop misleading loyal customers with products that don’t match what they promote.
Until then, they've not only lost a valued customer—but also tarnished what should have been a sweet...
Read moreToday, my beautiful colleague and I decided to indulge our taste buds at The Chocolate Room, and it was an experience we won't soon forget. Located on General Mathenge Drive, this charming oasis captivated us the moment we stepped in.
We kicked off our culinary journey with the Paneer Shawarma Wrap. Packed with flavor and cooked to perfection, this wrap was an absolute treat, easily earning a 4.5 out of 5 from us.
But the pièce de résistance was the Nutella Crepe with Strawberries. To say it was a banger would be an understatement. Every bite was a harmonious blend of gooey Nutella and strawberries, making for a heavenly dessert.
Adding to the memorable evening was the restaurant's ambiance. With lights artfully strung around the trees and outdoor seating, the environment was utterly serene. It felt like we had stepped into a small, enchanting world, a welcome escape from the daily grind.
In conclusion, The Chocolate Room offers not just exceptional food but also an atmosphere that leaves you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Whether you're going on a date, hanging out with friends, this place is...
