Re\Volver — Restaurant in Nairobi

Re/Volver is a cosy puerta cerrada premium cocktailbar, still to be discovered by many. The decor could best be described as classy western with a copper twist. They play mostly old American music, which further adds to the atmosphere.

But the real experience at a great cocktailbar is in the quality of the ingredients (definitely pressent) and the expertise of the bartender, in this case Geoffrey. Geoffrey prepares his cocktails to perfection (I hade an old fashioned, a whiskey sour and a penicillin). He knows his ingredients, recipies and preparation methods. Furthermore, the perfect bartender can easily entertain his guests without taking the stage for himself, making the bar a welcome place for solo guests. Jeff nails this too. An absolutely unexpected find in Nairobi and a must for anyone who likes the perfectly made drink. Knocking on the heavy wooden door and seeing the letter plate suddenly open with eyes peering out, I thought there was a risk of this being a parody of a speakeasy. I was wrong. The interior is beautiful, thoughtfully put together dark furnishings, wooden bar, Tiffany style lamp. The place is perfectly designed for long conversations with friends or the bartender. But most of all the DRINKS. The bartender has thought it all through, from the perfect old fashioned to things a little more quirky with home made syrups. This is one of the best cocktail bars I’ve been to in Nairobi. It offers a speakeasy vibe with a large door that you have to knock to gain access. The cocktails are really good and as a whisky enthusiast, they offered quite a selection on that. In terms of cost, they are a bit on the higher end but that is to be expected based on the clientele they serve. They do have quite selection on the drinks and I did spot several high end whisky...
