⭐️⭐️ Disappointed – Seafood Quality Needs Serious Improvement

I’m writing this review in the hope it helps Bar Bar Restaurant improve. We visited during the low season, so we understand that things may run slower than usual. The pizza we ordered was okay and reasonably priced - no issue there.

However, the seafood dishes were very disappointing. We waited over an hour for the seafood risotto, and when it finally arrived, it looked like it was just rushed onto the plate — no care for presentation, no attention to detail. The seafood platter was even worse: the seafood was clearly not fresh, overcooked, and lacked flavor completely.

In an Italian town, at a recommended Italian restaurant, and paying decent money, we expected much better. It felt like there was no quality control coming out of the kitchen — whether from the chef, manager, or owner, someone needs to make sure the food is truly ready before it’s served.

Atmosphere was decent along with the ambience but the food was mediocre and coffee bland.

To make it worse, I paid my bill via mpesa to the number on the receipt instead of to a non visible till number which apparently sent it to the manager. Waiter conferred with the manager, Sara Brambilla, who told him to tell us to request a refund via Safcom which she will approve and in the meantime, just pay through the till number.

We were in a hurry so we paid again, left and requested the refund via Safcom. Lo and behold we received a notification from Safcom that Sara Brambilla had refused our reversal request!

While visiting Malindi, we had a dinner at Bar Bar and were really pleased on the service as team was very considerate and responsive. They provided us mosquitoes repellent as well. Food was good in taste as well as quite generous in terms of portion size. Price was in higher side. There was live music, a bit louder but depends on the individuals choice as to have more time and convenience to chit chat while dinning or enjoy music. For me it was bit challenging to respond calls, and I had to step out and sit in the car. The atmosphere within restaurant was okay but entrance was packed with beggars and people asking for money.
