Char choma is located along Mombasa-Malindi highway, just before or after Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort, depending on which direction you are moving from. It's a nice set-up for families and any other person. They have an open space sitting next to the beach, and there is more sitting at the rooftop. There is a variety of food, you will find most meat cuts here. You place your order at the kitchen section before you go to sit. The order can take 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the type of order and clients available, so no hurry when you come to this place. They also offer different beverages ranging from alcoholics to non-alcoholics. There is ample parking, but it can be filled up to the brim on a busy day like weekends. Service is agile,however the staff can get overwhelmed at times when it's busy. There are facilities like kid's playground, swimming pools for both kids and adults,they also have accommodation. Overall, this is a nice place and prices are pocket-friendly. So plan well if you are planning to visit Char Choma. I give it 7/10 overall. Okay this place came as a recommendation from several people. Based on my personal experience and opinion, it may have been a good place for grilles meat (Choma) in the past, It certainly is not right now. We got there, chose our meat, we got lamb chops, the lollipops which looked like a lot of meat. We sat at a table of our choosing, got a waiter in 10mins for drink orders, and we waited for the food. The food came out litteraly 30 mins from when we sat down. Okay either they have the hottest oven or grill or that's definitely not our meat. It looked amazing don't get me wrong. The meat was warm and very tough! I mean tough! Lord! Also it was not the type we chose. We chose lamb lollipops and am a foody so I know my meats. That's definitely not what we got. The drinks showed up after we were done eating which we wanted to have with our food but whatever. The waiter was nice but very busy and overwhelmed. All in all, based on the price($$) range, it was meh. I wish I went to local spot for a more authentic experience. The view was amazing, it on the beach.

The first view of Char-choma was breathtaking and pleasing aesthetically. It's ambiance created a sense of peace and tranquility with it's surreal view. I also liked the rocking chair design which left you feeling amazing. As we went inside we were immediately ushered in and the service was top notch ensuing that our needs are met. We were given a menu to scan which speeds up the process and we made our orders. The wait time for our food was around 40 to 50 minutes and during that time we used the chance to walk along the beach. The food was so delicious and their meat perfection. We were later given complementary cakes which of course we ate. There was an immaculate ocean view where we sat. After that we had madafu which was infused with alcohol and it was perfect. It's family friendly since there is a playground for children hence people can have some alone time. There was also a DJ playing music while we ate there. I'd definitely recommend this place to other people and I'd definitely visit this place again while I'm in Mombasa.

I really loved the pork loin chops and how they presented their food and how polite the waitresses and the waiters were I mean Char Choma restaurant is a very fancy and luxurious restaurant to go have some nyama choma in the town and some cold beer....you get to order by the butchery...you choose for yourself and within a matter of time your order will be done! Such an amazing experience! We really loved the lobster dish sheesh they were so yummy accompanied by the fried potatoes and chips and coconut rice not forgetting the guacamole and other sauces! Only that their menue is a bit confusing it doesn't tally with the one at the butchery I really don't know why it almost brought an issue between the management and I yesternight but we managed to sort it.... otherwise....you deserve a 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great ambience. One of the nicest beach front restaurants. The restaurant is beautifully built with a contemporary touch to it. On the first glance you are assured that you are going to enjoy your visit. There is a swimming pool incase you want to practice your skills and because it's a beach front restaurant you can swim in the ocean as well. They have a wide variety of food and you get to pick your own meat which is a fine experience. You also get to build a burger of your choice. The restaurant is kid friendly and a nice adult hangout at the same time. They offer a wide variety of beverages and alcoholic drinks, warm or cold as per your choice. Their washrooms are well maintained and their clubbing area is lit. Their customer service is exquisite. Just sitting by the ocean enjoying the views makes for a perfect weekend to unwind for me. And char-choma offers that and more.
