To be fair we got there late around 30- 40 minutes before closing and we were the last guests. The food took a long time to come out. We ordered 3 dishes. Grilled whole fish, fried calamari and grilled prawns. All came with roasted rosemary potatoes and some with coconut rice or plain rice and salad. The fried calamari was soggy crusted and room temperature ..either done before everthing else or done before we ordered...the crust was bland and thick..not the tempura like described...the calamari rings themselves once theb crust was peeled off were fine...only a few were too chewy but most were sort of tender...and decent. The fish and prawns were tasty and fresh...not amazing but enjoyable. One of the 3 prawns I got was mushy but the other two were great ...everything was fresh except the tomato sauce that came with the calamari tasted like it was beginning to go off. Also the roasted Rosemary potatoes were not crisp or hot and there was no coconut in the rice, just plain rice. We told the waiter, when he askes how everything was ...he reported ack that the kitchen had run out of coconut rice but neglected to tell him ...personally I think they just shoveled the last order out and wanted to go home. Overall a meh experiences but not bad... We walked from our airbnb on the mai. Road around 7 minutes. Tuk tuks stopped but it seemed tonshort to bother, although my cousin was worried about late night safety...we saw land snails and long slugs on thr walk...we did have flashlights and headlights and heard the bark of many guard dogs...

Pros. The fish is very good, they often offer a varied types of fish depending on the catch of the day. There is a nice view as you wait for your food. You almost forget what brought you there.
Cons. The food takes so long you almost forget what brought you there :) Seriously, people at the coast are slow but this restaurant pushes that theory to the limit.
Once the food is ready (sometime down the century), there are so many flies circling around your food you basically spend most of the time wafting them away.
They do not make Ugali because most tourists don't like Ugali. So if you are having fish, you are limited to either rice, fried potatoes or both. I just...
Read moreSuch a great local dining experience that our friends recommended to us. Can’t say enough good things! Excellent seafood, you won’t get fresher. You’re sitting and eating on the beach with a lovely breeze, and the portions are generously sized. Great value, friendly staff. We went for both lunch and dinner a few times and got the seafood platter which is enough for two. Text them a few hours before to reserve your table and provide your order so they can prepare the catch in time. This also feels like the sustainable way to go. FYI sometimes they close early if business is slow so best to text/call...
