Joma Bakery Cafe in Vientiane has established itself as a consistently popular spot, and for good reason. During my time here, it's become clear why many, myself included, consider it a reliable go-to for a variety of needs, whether it's a quick coffee, a hearty meal, or a sweet treat.
The ambiance at Joma is generally comfortable and welcoming. It strikes a nice balance between a casual cafe and a more established eatery. You'll often find a mix of locals, expats, and tourists, all enjoying the relaxed atmosphere, whether they're working on laptops, catching up with friends, or simply enjoying a break.
While the prices might be a touch higher than some local options, the quality and consistency of their offerings often justify the cost. They provide a sense of familiarity and a taste of international cafe standards that many appreciate.
For me, the Parisian Egger is an absolute standout and my all-time favorite order. There's something undeniably satisfying about this simple yet delicious breakfast item. The combination of perfectly cooked eggs, savory fillings (often including ham or bacon and cheese), all nestled within a flaky pastry, is a consistently enjoyable experience. It's the kind of dish that starts the day right or provides a comforting and satisfying bite at any time.
Beyond the Parisian Egger, Joma boasts a diverse menu that caters to various tastes. From freshly baked pastries and breads to sandwiches, salads, and heartier meals, there's usually something for everyone. Their coffee selection is also commendable, offering a range of hot and cold beverages prepared to a good standard. The service at Joma is generally efficient and friendly. While it can get busy during peak hours, the staff usually manages to handle the flow effectively, ensuring a reasonably smooth experience.
While it might not be the cheapest option in Vientiane, Joma provides a familiar and quality cafe experience that keeps many coming back, myself included, especially for that reliably delicious Parisian Egger. It's a solid choice when you're looking for a comfortable spot with a good menu and a...
Read moreCan’t say enough about my great experience here today (first time visit). We had been walking around sightseeing and it was SO HOT. We needed a place to relax with AC and grab a bite to eat. Perfect spot! Wish we had our laptops with us we’d stay a few hours and get some work done.
Coffee: I got the iced caramella (caramel latte) for 25k kip which was delicious! Food: I got the chicken pesto sandwich but got it on Focaccia instead of the baguette and it was to die for! Must try it! 38k kip. My bf got the breakfast burrito for 33k kip and said it was ok but not great.
Slightly more pricey than other local places but not pricey by US standards and so worth it for the atmosphere: cold AC, lots of seating with some regular tables and some cozy chairs, lots of outlets accessible and WiFi for working, free water/refills from a filtered water cooler.
Also: staff very friendly and spoke good English. Even able to accommodate my request for a different bread and no olives!
I will definitely check out their other locations...
Read morePretty good, almost same as american prices, Ruben around 48,000 kip, pretty good chesse, love the chiken pesto and the new yorker, can't say much about the salad, but the banana chocolate chip muffin was decent, a little too sweet, the lemonade ice tea was good.
