The Revolution Memorial Tower was officially opened on the 8th January, 2009. The monument stands 20 metres high and 36 metres wide and reputably cost the Lao government more than 5 billion kip ( approx $US 615,763.54). The project took six months to complete. Surrounding the monument is a stone carved frieze depicting Lao military victories, scenes of daily life, Buddhist festivals and the achievements of the State since 1975...... Unfortunately these days there is limited access to the monument with barriers across the four entrances to the upper level. This means we are not being able to take a close look at the frieze.

It looks like a neat monument, in a well-kept area, but they have a few barriers around it that say "no entry" and I wasn't really looking to spend the rest of my life in Laos military prison.

Interesting monument, near That Luang temple and Patuxai Monument in Vientiane, Laos. Same style stupa as That Luang.
