36.line Grill Restaurant — Restaurant in Jūrmala

This is probably the first time i am writing a review that soon after visiting a restaurant. Absolutely disappointed. Food : fine, OK. Beef burger was asked to be well done for a child, however it was delivered pink in color. Waiter tried to explain that this is well done, which was clearly not. For the second burger I requested to make it actually well done, since I’m pregnant. Upon delivering it, he said “well the previous was well done, this is well-well done” to point it out to me, wrongly. In general, I was also probably having better expectations about your food. Bread basket before the meal is being offered for additional price, ok, I do understand that, however I was expecting that from restaurant itself like in any other sort of fancy restaurants.

Service : absolutely bad. All waiters were literally gone for most of the time, while they had 6 occupied tables outside on the terrace. I had to stand up and find someone to ask for the “soup of the day”, and he did not even know the answer. They have an outdoor terrace (busy) and indoor seating (empty), waiters were not around in both of them, but most of the time they were in their kitchen. In order to ask questions or to order, you need to either wait until someone appears, or go and look for someone yourself.

During our meal, another waiter started to prepare the empty side of our table! Shocking! We were 4 people seated at 6 seater table, and he literally started to prepare the empty side of those two seats for the next people coming in 2 hrs! Luckily the other waiter saw my confusion and asked him to stop.

Before leaving, feedback from my side was given to waiters, since I had to wait for someone again to pay the bill, so I went looking for the payment myself… when i saw that not a single waiter is around the whole area once again, I let the female waiter know that this is unacceptable, on which she said “so what do you want me to do know???”

Well, it’s up to you, guys, what you want to do - to improve your service and food, or disappoint other customers...

Yes, I rarely write reviews about places I visit, since I am in the hospitality industry,I always think it's not fair to judge people or establishments from a small moment we spend with them...mistakes happen, people have their ups and downs..... We are humans .... It's my first time in Latvja...., I and a friend of mine came to the restaurant without any reservation..... We were received with a smile... Taking our coats....(It's a 5 ⭐ service).....not saying a 5 star service as an exaggeration....it reminded me of the time of my studies, when I started tourism and hospitality studies. A waiter dropped something and people started clapping, (I assume he/she is new in the career) it's a classic way to encourage new trainees in the industry to not feel embarrassed when they do mistakes or drop something...) it's not only a great restaurant with great and tasty food with a permanent follow of the table, they keep serving drinks when glasses are empty, keep taking empty plates to keep the table looks nice and welcoming...... Fantastic view, disappointing dinner. Food was a mix of very good (mussels in creamy white wine sauce), average (the duck), and less than stellar (the scallops). One of my table mates asked if the kitchen could do the scallop dish bearing in mind an allergy, and received a resounding yes (great response) when the meal finally arrived (an hour later - 3 other tables occupied) scallops were essentially all that was left on the dish. Gone was all of the other portions of the plate, with no substitute. Despite stating wanting separate checks, and receiving an acknowledgement, it was not prepared that way, and the staff was rather accusatory in their demeanour in insisting we should have asked for that at the beginning. The meals were also delivered in the most disjointed order I have seen. One guest got their appetizer as others will still getting their drinks, got their meal as others got appetizers, while someone got their main meal 10 minutes after the rest of the table had finished...
