I have been coming to this place for at least 3 years. Along with my friends we visited this restaurant today. Right now it's in newly built side of Alfa mall. Impressive decor!!! We expected improved service and food quality. But to our surprise, it's just external ambience which has changed. In fact the service got deteriorated than usual. Waiter had difficulty taking the order properly. He completely missed out half of our order which we clearly mentioned. After waiting for 45 minutes, we were able to talk to him. Thus recited our order once more. I mean its fine that sometimes they do miss out. But what happened next is that, to our surprise our rice came along with pork.which we never ever ordered. As none of my friends nor me eat pork. We wondered how ??? Then the waiter went to change it. Apparently we ended up waiting another 25mins for just a mere fried rice with basil and egg. We were forced to take away as we had other plans. When we asked for bill, again one more mistake in the tally. Once again we had to ask him to change and re check it in system. All the way none of the other waiters also tried to look into the situation. Even the manager!!! Thus after being patient for 2+ hours, we were forced to ask for the manager. Who came after a gap of 10mins.
Technically, our nicely planned dinner experience was not only spoiled! But we lost time and had to compromise and shift our next plans. Totally disappointed with the service, quality of food served, timing of service, response etc. Totally let down!!!
My friends rated the experience as 1 to 1.5 stars out of 5. Yet 2 stars for the ambience and for few nice drinks what the bartender made.
Not sure if we will prefer this particular branch once more.
Restaurant industry should give more attention for hospitality as well. Along with quality and good experience. Which I see is lagging in this restaurant chain.

Read moreI have been a customer of Gan bei for years in various places in Riga. However, today i was very dissapointed with the waiter's Aleksandrs rude attitude in the shopping mall's Alfa branch. I was asking to the waiter for ginger's tea with lemon and honey. He answered that they do not have such tea at all, afterwards, when he opened drinks menu, Aleksandrs emphasized that if the client is asking for ginger tea the client usually have rooboist tea in mind (which does not have lemon and honey indicated in the menu at all). I do not really think that is the way how to communicate with clients. If i am asking for the ginger tea with lemon and honey i expect not to have discussions about roobost tea. Or I expect a question - in the menu we have black tea with lemon, ginger and honey, or roobost tea with ginger. Si, i will not be visting Alfa's Gan bey anymore. Hopefully, Galerija Riga and Gan bei branch in shopping mall Sky will not change their attitude to the clients. Good luck.

We were there for two hours, after our initial order delivered nobody came to check on us. Nobody checked if we would like anything else, maybe we would like more wine or dessert for our tea, none of that. In fact at the end we were seating there with empty plates and glasses joking that you can sit there for hours and just get your own food out the bag, nobody cares .
